Getting fed up and my mum (who doesnt drink at all and actually disapproves of drinking generally) said "Oh have a bottle of wine and relax" :o

so I am! Ok, so its one of those teeny bottles of 187ml, but I do feel rather naughty drinking proper wine for a change! Whats the betting I go into labour now, and the midwife comes round to find me stinking of booze?! :o

MW won't bat an eyelid.

Just think, hospitals give women all manner or drugs during labour if so required, at a late stage a bit of wine's not going to be worth worrying about.

Enjoy Wine

Its early pregnancy when you have to feel guilty. Your baby is all developed now and just hanging around feeling cosy and growing.

I will admit to you that I had a glass of champagne at 20 weeks. I figured i'd risk my baby having a couple of extra arms for that little luxury on my wedding day...

I've got a few bottles left over for when she arrives (for me, that is, not her).

Drink up :)

My midwife said to me whn I went over with DD1, go home, have a big glass of wine, a good romp with your husband, relax, and we'll see you in the next day or so!!! A by Joe it worked!!! And loved every minute of it too!!!!

Bogeyface · 08/05/2011 19:57

thanks Flisspaps (naughty but cool name!) I hadnt thought of it like that!

MotherPanda, you have just reminded me that I havent prepared the single most important thing for this baby!

I have no "post birth booze" in the fridge! I need to get me Prosecco shopping (much nicer than champagne) asap!

Copper, I would happily do that but DH is on the "no sex in pg" bus sadly :( although I have threatened to do what I did when he kept putting off doing the bathroom and get a man in to do it :o

moregranny · 08/05/2011 20:41

Bogeyface I am still laughing...love it

When I was about 36 wks with my twins (so pretty huge) I developed a right old craving for a G&T. So I had one and it was LOVELY. So I had another one a couple of nights later. Then we went out for a friend's birthday, so I got my DH to go to the bar and order one for me, which I drank in a quiet corner so no one could see. A few more G&Ts over the next two weeks, and no, neither of the babies came out with foetal alcohol syndrome!

LOL Bogeyface

When I was having irregular contractions last week and couldnt settle my MW said put your feet up with a glass of wine and relax and I loved it so enjoy Grin

I've been having tiny sips of DP's wine for weeks. I find a whole glass makes my arms go really heavy (lightweight!) but a quick sip surely can't hurt!

LDNmummy · 09/05/2011 01:10

I drink a glass of red wine or half pint of Guinness every once in a while, if anything it is good for my low iron levels. It is not going to be harmful as long as it is not often and you do not get drunk.

Since getting pregnant one medium sized glass of wine sends me a bit funny so that is enough for me :D

Enjoy!

buttonmoon78 · 09/05/2011 06:51

My MW advocates a glass of wine every evening throughout last 2-3 weeks.

(In fact she advocates it through the rest as well but says not to quote her Wink)

AlpinePony · 09/05/2011 08:08

It's fine to have a drink. It's not fine to neck a bottle of vodka by 11am.

This is obvious to 99.999% of people, but we are all punished for the stupidity of the remainder.

Enjoy. :)

Btw, a friend was told to have a glass or two in early labour rather than going in to a tizz and rolling up at the hospital too early.

buttonmoon78 · 09/05/2011 08:21

Excellent advice AP seconded by the MWs at one of my antenatal groups.

Pootletrinket · 09/05/2011 09:07

I had a lovely G&T when I was a week overdue and going spare - first drink all pregnancy!!!

Icelollycraving · 09/05/2011 10:46

I didn't drink until about 20 weeks I think & I bloody love a drink!
I have a glass of wine or champagne maybe once a week or so.

StiffyByng · 09/05/2011 10:54

I'm overdue and have had a glass of wine for the last three nights. I think I'll keep it up!
