hi everyone, hopefully someone can be honest with me as im sick of reading throught hundreds of web pages looking for the answer!!
ok so i find out im pregnant.. after tryin for 12 months... im 4wk 3 days..
had bit brown spottin about 2 wk ago.. no other pains, bleeds etc. morning sickness n tender boobs.. had early scan thurs (as i thought i could have been 7 wk) mix up with dates.. anyhow - scan dint show anything and neither did internal apart from tickening uterus. they said i was prob earlier but took bloods.. they were 2600 roughly then on the sat repeated them.. they only went upto 2900 so was told that i am having a ectopic.. so devistated and cant stop breakin my heart. doctor wanted to give me the mex drugg but i demanded further eplainations and 100% sure before i do that. havin more bloods tomorrow - monday n hopefully scan thurs..
my questions is - is there any chance they could be wrong.. tryin to cling to that little bit of hope. i darent terminate until im positive but it will kill me even more.. any advice please!!! x

wow thats a bit fast, surely the would want too see exactly where the pregnancy is???

why are u unsure of your dates if you dont mind me asking?

im kinda ish going through something a tad similar.

last month me and dh had an accident anywho had positive tests then a normal period then negative tests .. now this month positive,

im off for a scan tomorrow too.

natalie9281 · 08/05/2011 17:02

yeah i think so too... im still in shock and keep hoping they are wrong..

unsure of dates as i last had a period on 7th april then before that the 14th march.. i did a test 6days before my period and the clear blue said 3plus weeks which would have made me 5plus weeks.. apparently they arent that clear but i dint know that at the time.. so i thought i was 7 wk.. if that makes sence..
hope you are ok x

oh that is strange isnt it.

all i know about ectopics are that hormones tend to rise still and 8 weeks is uasual when an ectopic reaches its painful peak, im no doctor just got told this at the hospital when my sister thought she had one etc.

Are you having any pain, more brown discharge i think there is backache involved too??

Im fine, im sure it isnt i think maybe we had an failes condom this month and didnt know as my tests have gone from negative to positive then digiatl said 1-2 weeks on my period date.

Eviepoo · 08/05/2011 17:08

I would be honest and ask your doctor how sure they are of an ectopic, then explain that you would like to wait a couple more weeks and see if a scan can then pick up where the pregnancy is located.

Best of luck to you xx

ive hardly been told owt.. ive been reasearchin untl i drive myself mad..

no pains, no bleedin, no backache.. nothing!

the brownish bleedin i mentioned earlier lasted 2 days and was hardly anything on a pantyliner.. so i assumed implantation bleeding.. as what i was told too.

they have said as my levels dint rise within a 48 hr period.. thats what they basing it on!! althought i got it tested 44 hr after!! lol clingin to hope again x

i think u def pregnant hun..as soon as the hormone level is detected your tests show positive x

Sympathies you are going through this. I had an ectopic pregnancy a few years ago. I have no answers for you, but suggest you visit EPT website, I hope that helps.
xx

Sounds very rushed to me.. I personally would bot be happy unless someone sat and talked me through exactly what is going on. Maybe pay for a private scan where they will take time for u and have a good look.

Oh yes I'm def preg but they want to just make sure I am not pregnant from last time still because of the bleed and they will then assume EP

My doctor said it sounds like last month I had a very early mc and because u r extremly fertile after I fell pregnant again .. Which sounds right to me.

When was the scan? I had a suspected ectopic with my first pregnancy and they tried to whisk me off for surgery without doing a scan (I was really VERY sick and they wanted to operate quickly, so I can understand why) but I begged and begged them to scan first and they could see the sac in the right place and realised it was a cyst causing the problems, not an ectopic pregnancy.

They operated to remove that instead, and sadly the operation led to a miscarriage. I was obviously devastated, BUT, at least they were treating the right thing. If you're not otherwise ill (no pain, no temperature, no raised infection markers etc) then I'd see if you can get a second opinion.

I should say though, that I'm obviously not a doctor and they must have some reason for suggesting what they are suggesting. Stay calm, stay positive and keep asking the doctors to explain anything you don't understand. Good luck.

thanks all for your advice and kind words but unfortunaltly after writin this i got rushed into hospital havin really bad pains.
i had blood tests and scan that established i was havin ectopic.
i had to have surgery to remove a tube.. at home now tryin to recover.
think im in shock and hasnt hit me properly. x

So sorry, but be reassured that the loss of the tube shouldn't make a difference if you try again, my neice got pregnant 2 months later and now has a dear little girl, x

jenga079 · 11/05/2011 16:21

Oh Natalie, I'm so sorry to hear that. I really hoped it wouldn't be ectopic.

I know it feels like the end of the world now (&probably will for a very long time) but rest assured that you can try again and it is possible with only one tube. I had more surgery for my cyst in which they removed my tube and ovary. I was devastated, but I am now 29 weeks pregnant and (touch wood) it's going well. I still think about the baby I lost every day, but I can't wait to meet this one.

Cry as much as you need to, take time out to be by yourself or with your partner and know it will get better (the pain won't go away, but it will fade somewhat)

Take care and have a [hug].
