Do you think the midwife would give me a sweep?

I'm hoping for a homebirth.

been niggling for 2 weeks, been having show for 11 days, back pain, strong pains that just die off.

I am utterly fed up.

Am due tomorrow by their dates, but am a week over by mine :(

DS and DD came after a sweep.

MW last wed refused but had a sweep the wed before (!) and was 2cms!

baby is very deeply engaged and am so uncomfy.

I am an emotional wreck though and on't know if im brave enough to call and ask :(

Oh dear, I know how you feel, have been having niggling for weeks and had show thurs and fri but still not in labour. I had a sweep on wed (cervix was too posterior for it to work), I was 40 weeks then.
You have nothing to loose by asking for a sweep, the worst they can say is no and you will know that at least you asked. good luck

I always get my DP to ring for me, I get all wobbly voiced and teary otherwise (I am a drip).

Just ask, explain everything that you have here and why you want it. Like saldoozer says, the worst they can say is no.

thanks

glad to know im not the only one.

the midwife on wed was a boot, i was really brave (i know i sound daft) and she was really rude so confidence is a bit down, well it is anyways.

he called and left a message.

Yes, I've sometimes got DH to ring the MW for me. Never been queried on it.

Once you're due by their dates, getting a sweep should no longer be a problem...

TotorosOcarina · 08/05/2011 13:56

he left a message and no-one has got back to us, no-one is answering the phone and the 2nd number we were given is going to 'Dr Browns' (who??) mobile.

What if I were in labour??! these are supposed to be the numbers i ring if im having the baby! (or have a query)

Just because Dr Brown's mobile is ignoring your request for a sweep doesn't mean that it would ignore you if in labour. Dr Brown probably just has his/her mobile set up to divert all calls to voicemail, and would instantly return a message from a woman going into labour.
