New Moses mattress?

Hey everyone :) Exciting question alert!
I know you need to replace a cot mattress for a second child but do you need to replace a Moses basket mattress also?

I don't think it is that necessary to replace the cot mattress if the child is in the same family. But I would say if you are going to replace one, then it seems obvious to replace both.

I've bought a new one - less than a fiver from Ebay so I thought it was worth it.

I didn't keep the moses mattresses when stored the basket away in the loft. Bought a new one each time to keep my mind at rest.

I bought new mattresses for both. Argos do a standard size Moses basket one for 7.99.

I bought a new one tho i know other people who haven't... its a tenner so figured 4 me it was worth the piece of mind xx

I am going to get a new moses basket mattress - I am sure the advice for cots would apply to moses basket mattresses too. In any case, mine was puked on loads, and we also used it for the pram so it has been everywhere. Oh, and I forgot about it when I last put the pram away so it has been in the garage for a few months and now the shed... so I think really I have no choice!

However I am not going to get a new cot mattress (if DS1 ever vacates the cot....) seeing as it is so thick that I don't see how turnng it over can't be like being a new one (plus he has never, so far, had any accidents or sickness that has got past the plastic cover).

Thank you everyone! I had assumed new mattresses were needed for subsequent children, but apparently some do keep them. I will buy new for both, as the Moses mattress is a little stained and the cot has been in the shed for two years! :s
