I am totally beside myself....been feeling sick all day for the past week and from my experience last time I'm guessing I've got another 5 weeks to go. I can't concentrate, I look green, using the computer makes me sick. What can I do? Tried ginger....anyone found anything homeopathic that helped? Just want to cry...pathetic isn't it?

does it help if you eat something? could you have some fruit or snacks on your desk?

robin3 · 08/11/2005 11:37

Trying to eat rather than do what I did last time a not eat much at all.

NUX VOM - homeopathic. You can get it in boots. I found it helped soooo much.

I also found that I was better if I didn't let my sugar drop too low - glucose sweets were on hand if I started feeling really bad, and they picked me up enough to hold some crackerbread down.

poor you

I felt like this at 8 weeks

coca cola helped a LOT

LilacBump · 08/11/2005 11:39

that's what i learnt this time around, robin3. i just kept my stomach a bit full rather than empty. went from throwing up for 3 months to 2 weeks of nausea.

robin3 · 08/11/2005 11:42

Brilliant will try homeopathic remedy asap.

Do you think Coke just works because it's fizzy or did you try other fizy things and they didn't work?

It so awful this bit because you want to be so happy in the knowledge that you're going to have another baby but instead a black cloud is over your head and I'm now panicking about whether I can cope with two children etc.

Lilac...you've given me hope! Thanks x

I think that both the caffeine and the sugar helped with coke - I couldn't have it much though because the sweetness was too much for me.

You realise when you have gotten over this lot of morning sickness, that you managed it with another child, and it gives you hope for having two children

I ate grapes ALL day - just sat at my computer stuffing them in. Cherries worked too. Also used the sea sickness bands. Still threw up till 17 weeks, but could work as well.

robin3 · 08/11/2005 11:55

Here I am moaning when I know of people who have been sick up to delivery. Janin 17 weeks must have been dreadful.

I love this site....hardly ever visit because I tend to get a bit absorbed but when you need help and you don't have anyone else to ask/tell it's a Godsend....especially for working mums who don't have as good a network.

Got some Nux Vom and will try, but let me know the other one as well because I reckon different remedies probably suit different people. I'd eat spiders right now if I thought it would help.

All I can suggest is what I did which was mints and plain crisps non stop!!!

robin3 · 08/11/2005 13:07

Blimey Jersey....just as well from all these stories that babies aren't like cakes and end up looking like the ingredients!

Ice cold lemonade and lots of carbs.

runtus · 08/11/2005 13:13

I was going to ask exactly the same question today..............feeling terrible.

I have just managed to stave it off for a bit however by going to Macdonalds for lunch. Not the best option I know but it was the only thing I could think of putting in my mouth that wouldn't make me sick! the Vanilla milkshake is def helping

manzanilla · 08/11/2005 13:45

ate wine gums by the ton and drank lots of tonic water! mints also good. Take care and hope it passes soon.
X

Hi...nux vom should help, but it is well worth the time and money to go and see a homeopath. I threw up til 28 weeks with first pregnancy, and this one I hopefully have stopped at 18 weeks. Interestingly of the 4 different homeopathic treatments I was given, Nux Vom was 4th on the list, not 1st. They need to be tailored to you. Homeopathy helped, but didn;t cure my sickness, whereas it did get rid of my appalling acid! My other salvation this time was oat cakes, the really dry boring ones, always in my bag and eaten regardless of how I felt every hour and a half or so. Good luck...I know how miserable you must feel.
