Bumpy Itchy Rash 24 Weeks. Help!

Hi all,

The title sums it up really. I woke up this morning with the most itchy, uncomfortable, raised, bumpy red rash. It's been driving me mad all day, and not improved at all. It's sort of mostly above my belly button and then right out to both sides. I've put calamine lotion on it, but it doesn't seem to have helped. Any idea what it is, or how I can get rid of it? Thanks.

I had something that sounds similar at 30 weeks. I went to the doctors, who took some blood as a precaution to rule out obstetric coleostasis. Sorry can't spell that! Basically once it was ruled out I was told it was PUPPS. Was given some piriton and cream, but never ended up using it as it just went! I wondered if it was heat rash or just from skin stretching! Really if you can, try to see a doctor just to be on the safe side.

Thanks Milkybrew. I did a quick google, and it looks early to get PUPPS but still possible maybe. Hmmmmm. How long did it take your rash to go?

I'd had it over the weekend, saw doc on tues, had the blood results on thurs and I think by the middle of the following week, shortly after getting prescription for cream and piriton, it just went! The rash going coincided with me turning the central heating off! Was early march, which is why I wondered about heat rash! I've not had it since. Mine started on tummy, but spread to tops of legs and arms. Like anything in pregnancy, if it worries you then get it checked out, better than stressing yourself out.

Thanks, I'll get it checked out if it's still here on Monday. I wonder if it's a heat rash also - I got quite hot and uncomfortable yesterday.

Hey :) I had PUPPP with my first pregnancy and it was awful. It's harmless for you and the baby but my god it itches! In the end they induced me at 40+9 (was booked for induction at 40+12) as two blood tests came back inconclusive. You can get it at any stage of pregnancy although it's more common in third trimester, I had it from 38 weeks. It's also more common if it's your first pregnancy and also if the baby is a boy! I found rubbing aloe vera gel on the rash helped. Lastly- it literally faded as I was giving birth and was completely gone about 2 weeks later.

Hey, I'm 26 weeks and am suffering with the same. I saw my GP who has prescribed DoubleBase cream which does help but she's checked my bloods to rule out obstructive cholestasis too. I sympathise with you, it's horrible!

Thanks for posting everyone,

That's interesting Baldricks. It's weird as this is my third pregnancy, and never had it before. Not sure if I'm having a girl or a boy. What did all you other itchy ladies have? The rash is actually significantly improved today and i am hoping it is on it's way out. Fingers crossed (that'll stop me scratching anyway!)

Oh gosh maybe this is what I've got!

I'm
35wks + and for the last couple of weeks have had a horrendous, maddeningly itchy, raised rash on the inside of my wrist.

Second pregnancy, though and had nothing like this with number 1...
