No growth end of pregnancy- what could it mean?

I'm 39 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I just had my MW appt and the baby hasn't grown in 2 weeks. I was measuring 1 cm 'big' last fortnight and now I'm 1 down. MW said it's within the norm of normal development and the baby is a 5th more engaged today which could explain the lack of growth but they want to measure me again next week and if necessary do a scan because 3 weeks without growth 'wouldn't be normal'.

What could cause lack of growth though- she did say some babies have growth spurts and then stop.
What else could it be? Baby's very active and the heart rate was good. My blood pressure is nice and low and I haven't had any health issues at all.

I had this, bump didn't 'grow' in the last 6 weeks, but scans confirmed that she did, she was just hiding out at the back.

Position has a lot to do with it. Also if it's moved down it will protrude out less

it's possible you may have been leaking a little bit of your waters.

either way, ask for the scan now if you're concerned and don't wait another week.

i am 39 wees and i have this problem, too... my baby is small, though... i am going for scans every 3-5 days... was told they'll induce me or i can elect a c-section if growth stops completely... btw, the only way to tell what progress the baby is making is by scanning you every few days. if there is no growth, it means the placenta most likely is not functioning well and it is best to take the baby out. hope it goes well for you. good luck!

I too had a non grower in the last few weeks, but like penguinarmy she was just hiding. I was told she would be between 5-6lbs. She was 8lbs 5oz, my midwife couldn't believe it.
I would say don't worry, but if you are really concerned ask for an earlier scan.

Well I am a week away from my due date so was going to wait till next week's appointment to get measured again but my husband got me all paranoid. I am now going to call the maternity unit to double check.
I guess 2 weeks ago I was 1 cm over and now and I 1 below which is not too bad.
I've had very tall babies the first 2 times and always a bit late so I'm not prepared for this at all!

I had a en EMCS the first time round (then a VBAC) which means I'd have to go for an elective if they needed to get the baby out. They can't induce me as it's too risky on the scar. :(
