Hi all my sil wants to buy us baby monitors and has asked me to pick ones and let her know. I have absolutely no idea what's what! We would prefer the digital ones where you can see the baby aswell as hear it but they all look and sound the same to me.

Does anyone have one they can recommend? xx

Oh I've been looking at the ones with the video too! They are more expensive, but I think so worth it!

The only ones I've seen are the ones in the Argo catalogue. The one by Summer Infant has a temperature display as well.

The BT Digital ones are very good, avoid Tomy monitors at all costs - they are utter dog-biscuits. We picked up a BT one on eBay and it was brilliant right up to the point when the DH dropped the handset in his pint.

Ours is a fairly basic Tomy - we can hear ds or if we turn it to silent there are led lights to show if there is noise, but tbh we just keep the sound on.
Ideally you need two channels (which most have iirc) so as not to pick up neighbours and at least the "parent" end should work off batteries so you can take it with you if you are sitting outside on a summers evening (ha!). With ours the baby end also works on batteries but we have never bothered.

We had a basic Tomy one but it kept getting police radios on it! I called Tomy and they sent us the top model free as we were on their bad area for interferance list - I just had to send it back with receipt. Fine, but the new one came with no receipt. I was great for 12months but then stopped working and we had no proof of purchase so the 2 year warranty was not upheld! We bought a brand new BT digital monitor with temp and nursery rhymes on Amazon for £35 (reduced from around £60). It was fantastic and 2 years on still works so can be used for our twins. We didn't get a video one as dd1 always had the room pitch black so I didn't think it would work very well.
