Bleeding ... warning tmi ...

Started to bleed today at 6w2d ... not heavy but it truly seems like bleeding would be at start of period . Couldn't believe I was pregnant anyway (previous pregnancies have been down to IVF and we've never managed it naturally before) yet I still feel like it's such a kick in the teeth. Anyway, am assuming this is it over so .... do I need to tell anyone/do anything given that it's happening at such an early stage and also, can I use tampons (can't imagine handling a heavy crampy period at work with pads)? Thanks.

dont use tampons

ring gp tomorrow for an early scan

sorry to hear this firecracker, very sad. x E

may not be over. I had bleeding for a couple of weeks when pg with ds. I would go to local early pregnancy unit and ask to be checked they should either do a scan there and then or book you in for one. Dont use tampons use pads as they may ask to check the bleeding.

good luck

I would get it checked out if I were you so that you know exactly what is going on.

So sorry Firecracker
have you got any pains/cramps? Do you feel pregnant ie tender breasts/nausea etc.?
Maybe it isn't all bad news.
I for one am keeping my fingers x-ed for you

Take care,
Dangirl

Firecracker, I bled at 4, 6, 8, 9, 12 weeks with ds1. With ds2 it was 4, 7, 8, 9, 12 and then solidly from 13 - 16. In between I had a pregnancy that lasted 9 weeks. One tiny bit of bleeding at 4 weeks, otherwise nothing - not even when I lost it! So for me bleeding was a healthy sign of pregnancy. Go to your local EPU, and they will see you and scan you (insist on a scan). With ds2 I was so paranoid (after losing one) that I went for a scan if I was just feeling a bit scared - had about 4 in the first trimester!

I have mc previously and each time it was different. I would advise you to consult your gp..all may not be wrong..sometimes it can happen for no reason and baby is fine...
Get scanned. I would also recommend waring pads..not very nice I know but at least you can monitor the loss.

Like fisil I was also scanned on a regular basis with dd as due to my history I was worried I would mc at anytime.Like I said I didn't even bleed when I mc until I had been admitted to hospital. Goodluck and I hope it all goes well.x

Thanks all ... I've a scan booked for Friday week anyway. This week I simply can't take any time off work as I was off sick all last week and have just started a new job. Will just have to sit tight and see what happens. I so hope it's not over but in the last few days the nausea which has been present from the day after my period was due has really subsided which is why I've a doubly bad feeling about the whole thing. If it is going to end, I guess I'd rather it was now rather than later on when it would be harder to deal with. Heck, lifes a b sometimes. Will keep my fingers crossed anyway. Thanks for your kind words.

FC,so so so sorry to hear the bad news . I know exactly how you feel....Please make sure you still go the hospital as they will still scan you "to make sure". I know this is the last thing you want to do but you also need to make sure that if this is the case that all is ok with your uterus and tubes etc....if anything is left it can make you very ill and cause further problems that you may not be aware of.

I hope things happen for you in the future. Wishing you lots of baby wishes...

dangirl · 07/11/2005 19:36

so sorry for you!

shhhh · 07/11/2005 19:38

ps don't be disapointed. You have done your best, sadly baby wasn't strong enough to continue. The loss is not your fault and hopefully you will realise this in time. I never thought I would get my baby but I'm glad to say that dreams do come true. xx

best to get to the hospital, see if they can check you out. They may not be able to help, but at least you should get good advice.

I have just found out I am pregnant. I'm having some pink discharge along with stomach crapms, is this normal.

joanna4 · 09/11/2005 22:58

Firecracker something very same happened to me when i was pregnant second time. All the symptoms of losing were there and i went for the scan just to confirm my baby was no more.To our amazement there was a little heartbeat going there and we had been expecting twins I am not saying this is the case but get yourself an emergency scan sorted just to see exactly what is going on inside. You must be feeling raw please try not to go into work you need some time.
