A FB page I subscribe to for those of us who are PG has just sent me a list of suggestions for how to bring on labour, which is fair enough as I'm due in 12 days. But evening primrose oil applied to my cervix? Seriously? How? And is this a good idea? I'm knocked up, I don't have PMS and how the Hell do I get it up there?!!

sex, a good orgasm and a good curry in that order will start you off if that is what you want but I do adore being PG and never want to rush it!!

Yup - it is right! You can insert a 100mg EPO capsule internally at bedtime and it slowly disolves overnight near your cervix. EPO contains prositglandins which soften the cervix. My MW suggested you take them orally (2000mg a day) too.

Malvapoeding · 02/05/2011 20:00

1000mg

cowboylover · 02/05/2011 20:28

I know a few on that have taken it internally but to be honest I tried once and it freaked me out a bit so I am going for the oral method! And the Raspberry leaf capsules as well Smile

I eat curry several times a week, in general. Sex, wouldn't that come under the hair of the dog that bit you? I'll never know if it was the pineapple that did it but when DS arrived two days early, they were on special offer at Tesco's and I bought a pile of them!

Have you never felt your cervix? It's not a matter of having long fingers, but of squatting or folding your legs up and having a poke about...

Bumperlicioso · 02/05/2011 22:06

Yep, worked for me! Capsule up the fanjo!

DrSeuss · 02/05/2011 22:07

OK,may give it a go!

Worked for me too, and I am convinced it helped soften everything up and it is what prevented me from tearing on that occasion, despite much heavier baby!

saldoozer · 02/05/2011 22:21

I tried this the other night, i had pierced the capsule with a pin, but then i was too worried it wouldn't dissolve and ended up retriving it and just sort of squirting the oil up there sorry TMI
Anyway it didn't work i'm still pregnant Hmm

galwaygal · 02/05/2011 22:57

I did not try piercing it, I just popped in the whole capsule before going to bed and let it dissolve naturally over night.

Malvapoeding · 03/05/2011 11:30

Pop it in whole as the outer capsule melts with body heat. I would suggest wearing a pad over night and the next morning as it does all drip out when you stand up!
