Just found out this evening I am pregnant. I had prawns at lunch today. Do u think it'll be ok? I don't feel sick. Am I being paranoid?

A bit yes Smile Cooked prawns are absolutely fine

winnybella · 02/05/2011 19:49

Yes, you'll be fine. You can eat cooked seafood in pregnancy.

edwinbear · 02/05/2011 19:49

I had a real craving for a prawn mayo sandwich a couple of weeks ago so had one. As long as they are cooked and from a reputable source you'll be fine. Congratulations!

I hope so because I had some too.

Yes, you'll be absolutely fine. I'm on my 3rd preg and have eaten prawns every time, plus enjoyed some lovely smoked salmon sandwiches on friday in front of the royal wedding. congrats on your preg!!

God yes, ate loads of prawns when pg, and tuna, and peanut butter and soft cheese, and a bit of alcohol.
Dont worry you and baby will be fine

lol i love prawns and sushi and still eat both at 20 weeks pregnant... they arent on naughty list if cooked.

LuckyWeKeptTheCot · 02/05/2011 21:16

By the way - is cooked blue cheese OK?

8rubberduckies · 02/05/2011 21:30

I have eaten so many cooked prawns this pregnancy my baby may come out looking like one.

PS Still hot, cooked blue cheese is fine, he heat kills any nasties lurking.

8rubberduckies · 02/05/2011 21:30

Sorry, swap he for the Blush

My MW told me no prawns (even cooked) but I've ignored it as I can see no rational reason to avoid them unless they'd sat uncovered on a buffet for ages, which would just be bog standard anti food poisoning advice anyway.

doodledee · 03/05/2011 11:11

I craved and ate prawns throughout both pregnancies with no problems

AlpinePony · 03/05/2011 11:21

I accidentally ate raw prawns Blush - I was halfway through my homemade sarnie when I realised the texture was a little orf...

That was at around 24 weeks, he's now 10 months and absolutely fine of course.

Supermarket prawns are a million miles away from an August wedding buffet left out in the sun!

Anyway, prawns tend to be irradiated to death (haw haw) these days, nothing can grown on them. It's a miracle we're able to digest them as it is.
