Early baby movement - confused.

Hi all,

I'm 16 weeks with my second pg and have felt the baby moving for a couple of weeks now - just the little flutters, sometimes stronger than others. I've not really kept a close eye on movements yet since it's so early but think I have felt movement most days.

Since Friday though, I have felt nothing. Is this normal since the baby is so small and is just hiding out somewhere / has just turned round or would it be worth a call to the midwife? I wasn't too concerned at first but day 3 of no movement and I am reaching full on freak out mode.

Thanks.

Hi
I didn't want to read and run - the baby could have turned around, but I would ring the midwife to be on the safe side, and to put your mind at rest or alternatively ring the maternity/early pregnancy unit at the hospital. They would rather see you, than not at all.

If you are anything like me, until you speak to someone about it, it will worry you endless.
Hope all is ok

yep, as above, I'd ring the midwife if you're worried. We got one of the little heartbeat listeners at about 14 weeks (£15 from amazon) and I find that really handy if she's had a quiet day just to put my mind at ease!
baby's prob just moved, but no need to worry unnecessarily!

Thanks. I'm going to contact the community midwives this morning. Like you say, no need to worry unnecessarily. And like FTM, it is on my mind constantly and will be until I've spoken to someone.

Thanks for your responses.

Community midwives said it's not unusual for movements to be hit and miss at the moment. There's not much they can do to check me out though as our Day Unit won't accept patients before they are 18 weeks and my next appointment with my mw is not for another 6 weeks so it's a case of sitting it out and buying a new doppler.

Glad you phoned your MW....how have things been today?

Hi FTM,

Sorry, only just seen this. Bean is on the move again, felt a few flutters yesterday then full on wiggling yesterday evening and today. V. relieved, I can only assume he/she had moved to somewhere I couldn't feel.

Thanks for your advice and for coming back to check up on me. No doubt I will have plenty more wobbles in the next 24 weeks!
