hi still no bump at 18 wks :( boobs less sore and felt no movement yet :( am getting concerned, heard strong heartbeat at 16 wks and ordered my own Doppler.
Anyone else had this and everything has turned out ok?
I have a stupidly long torso at 5th 10" and was told I would have a small, neat bump by mw, but still worried. I don't look pregnant at all :-(

Sorry moaning over, I have 3 weeks until next scan so guess will find out if all ok then...

If this is your first pregnancy it isn't unusual not to start showing until around 20 weeks or later, and you should expect to start feeling some movements within the next couple of weeks.

Is there any chance you could get an appointment with your MW before your next scan to put your mind at rest?

sarahmia · 02/05/2011 09:11

I didn't feel movement until 22 weeks with my first and 18 with my second... And tbh I think at 18 weeks most of my "baby belly" was cake :)

CrazyAlien06 · 02/05/2011 09:16

Thanks ladies , doubt I'll get a mw appt as my mw is totally useless and need to change. Went to 16 wk appt and it was different one as my mw was in Aus-handy when I'd left a message on her phone with a question not knowing that she wasn't even in the country! Had no other numbers to call either. Am going to pop to docs tomorrow to request to see the replacement I saw for 16wk appt as she was lovely and i felt so at ease. Not liked my official mw since first meeting:( she made me feel stupid.
I'm going to try Doppler and get mw appt as need reassurance x

Well you're lovely and tall, clearly. I'm 4 inches shorter than you and only started showing at 18 weeks. I'm sure yours will be on its way soon x

DooinMeCleanin · 02/05/2011 10:07

I didn't start showing with my first until I was almost 6 months, then I woke up one morning with a huge bump Hmm

CrazyAlien06 · 02/05/2011 10:22

Thanks ladies :D think I'm just having a bad day today :( know someone who is 14 weeks and she a put a photo on facebook and she has a gorgeous bump, think it just got to me when I saw it :-(
I'm going out for lunch and to the cinema with DH this afternoon so that will make me feel much better I am sure.

Roll on 20wk scan :D especially as we booked it for a Friday pm so we get a few hours added onto the weekend as hospitals about hrs drive away with traffic haha

Im also 5ft 10" with my first and didnt really get a proper bump until 26 weeks. I popped a bit at 22 weeks but was still in the 'fat or pregnant?' stage for a few weeks after that.
Im now 31 weeks and have a lovely neat bump that im very proud of and totally in love with (even though it gets in the way and always ends up getting covered in my dinner Blush) but its only really been the last 2 weeks that people have started commenting on it.

I'm 5'6 and didn't have a bump until 20 weeks with my first and felt no movement until 23 weeks. DS is now a happy and healthy 20 month old. I did find having my own doppler reassuring though, although you do need to approach it with the mindset that you should still always seek medical advice if you feel something is wrong, even if you do hear a hb and conversely, if you don't find a hb occasionally try not to panic!

bishboschone · 02/05/2011 13:23

Think yourself lucky..I am 5ft and although 27 weeks , I am getting mightily fed up with people telling me I am massive. I am petite so it has to go somewhere. You will be fine. My similar size tall friend didn't show till she was at least 20 weeks. Try not to worry, I am sure all is fine.

CrazyAlien06 · 02/05/2011 16:53

thanks everyone :)
I am remaining positive and its only a few weeks until my next scan so not long to wait to check all is ok :) Just was having a down day.
had a lovely afternoon with DH at the cinema and a yummy lunch so feeling much better.

wolfcub awww sounds like you have a lovely bump , fingers crossed mine ends up the same :)

I think you just need to stop comparing. It's utterly normal not to feel movements until 20+ weeks and if you're tall you will show later as a very loose rule.

I'm ridiculously short, have a shallow pelvis and have a very clear bump and movement from 15 weeks. There's nowhere else for the baby to go but out.

My friend has 4 and is 5ft 11". She never shows till post 20 weeks, probably nearer 24 at least. She still has months (longer than the first trimester, remember that?) of bladder pressure, stretched skin, stretchmarks, itchiness, ill-fitting clothes, kicked ribs and everything else besides.

There's so much time. You have no reason at all to worry and in a month you'll find things have changed completely and then again a month later and so on. Give it time.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 02/05/2011 16:58

With my first pregnancy I didn't start showing till I was 24wks, went to bed with a flat tummy, woke up with a huge bump the next morning and felt movement between 16-18wks.

I'm 6 wks into my 2nd pregnancy and already can't do the top button of my jeans up Shock

CrazyAlien06 · 02/05/2011 17:07

Yep I have vowed to not compare now. Looking forward to next scan to check all is ok.I cant help but worry as it's my nature unfortunately not many things go well for me. doesn't help that i have a job I don't like and is stressful :-( will keep chin up :D x

I'm 5ft 8" and 24 weeks with my 1st. Only people who see me all the time would realise I'm pregnant. To strangers it just looks like I have a bit of a belly. Don't worry at all xx

mummysfunny · 02/05/2011 22:12

I remember having major bump envy! Im 5'11 and I didnt show til quite late on, in fact my neighbour who lived upstairs didnt kno I was pregnant at all! Try not to fret, easier said than done I know. All of a sudden you will bloom! x

CrazyAlien06 · 03/05/2011 07:49

Thanks :-) I'm trying to not worry now , hopefully will feel some movement over the next few weeks. thought I might have felt some last week but not sure. Doppler should arrive today I hope so will have a go with that and I'm off to try to change mw aswell. Fingers crossed I can!
