Surely I can't get any bigger

I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and a one-woman-mountain. I have put on over 3 stone and my bump is the size of the earth. Belly is so sore and veiny and feels bruised all over. I can't see what I'm doing when I have to give a urine sample so keep peeing all over my hand!!!.

This is my 2nd pg but DC1 was prem so this is new territory for me. Please please please tell me I might not actually get any bigger if I carry for another 3+weeks Hmm

I know how you feel. I'm not actually any bigger than is normal for 37 weeks but feel mahoosive and like a ship in sail. Turning over in bed is semi impossible! I also went early with DC1 (36 wks) and never got very big with him (he was born at only 4lb 12) so this is all new territory for me. Never doing it again, I can tell you!

CBear6 · 01/05/2011 21:19

With DS I carried really high and towards the front, I got DH to measure me at 39 weeks and I was 50 inches around my widest point. I had him at 40 weeks and a lot of it was fluid although DS was on the larger side.

The plus side is that at 37 weeks you don't have long left and shouldn't get too much bigger now :)

cheekypickle · 01/05/2011 21:30

So just read your posts and measured around my belly button, I'm 37 inches and i'm only 24 weeks! Is this big? I feel rather large!!

I want to turn over in bed in one got, not 5!!

lolajane2009 · 01/05/2011 21:41

lol i'm 35 inches and 20 weeks.... i used to be 29 inches around there. I dread to think how big I'll be at 40 weeks.

buttonmoon78 · 01/05/2011 23:07

I reckon I trump the lot of you. I'm 27 weeks and 45". Normally I'm about 30" so that's quite big Blush

Suddenly I'm realising why everyone says I've grown suddenly!

Eviepoo · 01/05/2011 23:12

Oh my goodness I just measured round my middle as I also feel I am large - I have gained 12 inches round my waist at the belly button point! I am 24w!!

No wonder everyone tells me I am massive, I have gained 1st 4lbs which I thought was kind of average for this stage - surely it must be fluid that's making me gain inches. I wasn't thin prior to pregnancy, I was a size 14/16.

I'm off to re-measure as surely I must have done it wrong, here's hoping.

buttonmoon78 · 01/05/2011 23:24

Oh heck, I've not weighed for weeks as at 18ish wks I'd put on 6lbs so had been counting on the fact that was still true (in my head IYSWIM?)

I fear I may have been a little offbeam. I guess it's onto the scales tomorrow am then. Sigh.

buttonmoon78 · 02/05/2011 08:39

Well, it's true to say that 6lbs is no longer true (like it was ever going to be Hmm). But I reckon I'm not doing too badly - have put on exactly a stone. So considering I'm 75% of the way through I reckon that's not too terrible!

So mother, yes, I really should've had that second (second I ask you for goodness sake?!) Lindt mini egg on Saturday. After all, a stone at this stage is going to be about half baby related and half mine and it's not as if denying myself a few treats is going to make a huge difference is it? So there. Ner.

LargeGlassofRed · 02/05/2011 08:46

I was 52 inches when pregnant with my twins, pic on profile, people would stop and stare in amazement.

witches · 02/05/2011 10:33

buttonmoon you and I must be very similar and you make me feel better i was same about 30 at start and im tall so was slim and now 46 at 28weeks! eeekk also keep getting told how huge i am! its lovely isn't it that people can tell you that freeely when pregnant! Hmm

LadyGoneGaga · 02/05/2011 13:44

I'm same as Buttonmoon and Wiitches. About 29 at start and 44 inches yesterday at 28 weeks. Have gained over three stone though Shock.

Loving the "You're huge" comments Hmm

GoodVibrations · 02/05/2011 21:03

Thanks ladies, I'm so glad I'm not alone Grin Just measured at 40" which I think is about 10-11" growth. The rest of the weight is quite clearly on my arse!!.

Have SPD aswell and on crutches so I get stared at A LOT. I wouldn't mind if I got sympathy aswell, but today I was waiting for a table at a cafe (complete with DD in pushchair and me on crutches, DH was getting the food) and no-one offered me a seat, a girl even pushed passed me to get a free table Shock Miserable lot. And why do people think it's perfectly acceptable to comment on your size?? As if I'm not self conscious enough as it is!!

buttonmoon78 · 02/05/2011 21:20

Oh, don't get me started on crutches etiquette! I was fed up to the back teeth of it last time and am getting that way now too.

I was in a jewellers last week. All 3 employees (inc manager) were sat on the only 3 chairs. It took the manager 5 mins to realise that it would be polite to offer me a seat. Quite frankly, they should've stood up the minute a customer walked in let alone one who is somewhat challenged with mobility shall we say?!

And as for the person who asked me to move out of 'your' seat at the Blue Planet Aquarium in January 2007, I hope you've managed to lose the extra 5 stone you were carrying. And managed to gain a little sensitivity!

And the person who tutted in Tesco today as I clearly wasn't walking fast enough - my heel is still sore where you pushed your trolley into me.

buttonmoon78 · 02/05/2011 21:21

I told you not to get me started... Wink

CBear6 · 03/05/2011 09:08

I'm feeling huge this time and I'm only 21 weeks, not helped yesterday by the colossal tit-head in his white van who shouted "fat cow" out of his window and then giggled with the other guys in the van :( I'm blatantly pregnant though rather than is she/isn't she/is she just a bit a podgy, it's now unmistakeable.

buttonmoon78 · 03/05/2011 10:00

Indeed a colossal tit-head. Angry for you.

Had a similar experience this morning. My ex-next door neighbour said to me at school 'it's due at the end of this month, right?'

'erm, no, end of July actually. I'm only 27 weeks.'

'27?! I was smaller than that and I had twins!'

Which was helpful. And thoughtful. And sensitive blah blah...

spilttheteaagain · 03/05/2011 21:42

I hadn't yet considered measuring my waist, but now I've done it. 24 weeks and 35.5" round. Usually size 10 which is allegedly about 28-30".

jezebelle · 03/05/2011 22:44

My waist is currently 48 inches at 33 weeks, i'm usually a size 12 !!

GoodVibrations · 04/05/2011 10:08

buttonmoon and cbear Shock I wish I had the confidence to say something back to these people.

DM is the worst for me. She has been away for a few weeks so she will love (and I mean love) seeing how big I am. She has made a comment (you are absolutely massive, how will you ever lose all that weight....) every single time I have seen her. She seems to think looking really skinny when pregnant is so much nicer and constantly points out skinny celebs who look 'lovely'. Grrrrrrr. I actually like having ginormous norks for once in my life!!

buttonmoon78 · 05/05/2011 08:30

goodvibrations you should explain to her quietly that dh has discovered a bit of a 'thing' about larger ladies so you're indulging him with the full intention of getting back to 'normal' afterwards. Then yawn pointedly and say 'not getting much sleep' with a gentle nudge and wink.

Should put her off nicely.

disclaimer: I would never have the guts to do this, but it would sound good in my head!

juneau · 05/05/2011 08:34

I'm 38 weeks and 43 inches around my belly button.

OP you shouldn't get much - if any - bigger at this point, because although your baby will continue to grow your amniotic fluid is reducing all the time.

GoodVibrations · 05/05/2011 21:09

AAARRRGGHH!!!! DM went with the classic "Goodness look at you, are you sure its not twins" AngryAngryAngry. Not "how are you/ baby" "you look well". No just straight in with the size comment. Followed shortly by "how much weight have you put on?". Not impressed.

button did not have the guts to go with your suggestion, really wish I did though!

juneau thanks for the reassurance, I really don't think I can cope getting any bigger!
