Hi everyone! Please excuse a question from a newbie!
I am 34 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I have feld B-H contractions for about a month now, they have become stronger but they are not painful, just a bit uncomfortable. 10 days ago my gyneacologist asked me how many I was having a day and felt that 30 plus were far too many (she said 10-15 were normal). My cervix is long and closed, but my gyneacologist wants me to stay in bed/lie on sofa, with only 2 short walks a day, weekly midwife visits and take it very easy. She has also put me on Spasfon (antispasmodic, we live in France so not sure if this medication has the same name in the UK).
For 10 days I have done exactly as she has suggested but I am still having 30 plus contractions and if anything lying down all the time makes me feel them a lot more. My cervix is still long and closed (confirmed by midwife). Is my gyneacologist exaggerating a bit? When I am more active (walking around, doing a bit of cooking, sitting at the computer for a bit) I feel a lot better. I don't want to ignore my gyneacologist but I also find the doctors in France very paternalistic and unwilling to discuss the rationale behind their choices so I am not sure how reliable her concern is.
Has anybody experienced something similar? Did it lead to early labour? Did resting help you?
Many thanks for your replies!
