Hi All,

I seem to have developed a strange pattern of "cough cough", "retch retch", "sneeze sneeze"? Has anyone else got a pregnancy sneeze?

The cough/retch/sneeze happens morning and night and seems connected to the ms I have. I also sneeze twice after eating.

I did not do this before I was pg. The only real issue is how painful it is. I have to bend down before I sneeze or I get wrenching pain around the womb area.

Normal?

Ta,
Pam

Not sure about the retching but yes to sneezing while standing straight - ow! And never sneeze if your bladder is even a little bit full!

Booboostoo · 30/04/2011 16:18

I seem to sneeze a lot while I am nauseous! Can't really see why but there does seem to be a connection. I don't find it painful but by the third sneeze I can get a bit leaky (!!!).

Yep. Pregnancy rhinitis here too. Sneeze about 5-6 times per day - and it hurts if I'm stood up. Also peed myself a little bit a few times when sneezing... :o
It's the stuffy and bloody nose which gets me...

Misty9 · 30/04/2011 16:48

Oh, and I'm 21+5 and have had this since the beginning. In it for the long haul I think :)

So its not just me then phew Grin agree that it hurts to sneeze too. Not normally one to sneeze either so taken me by surprise and i'm only 6wks!

Ooh I sneeze all the time too at the moment, sneezed so hard at work the other day I ended up with a nose bleed Confused

firsttimer84 · 30/04/2011 19:57

me too! plus my hayfever has started and pelvic floor seemed to have failed! v embarrassing! i bought some lovely white maternity linen trousers which i darent wear!

PamSco · 01/05/2011 07:10

Phewy! Not just me lol.

I've started to incorporate a bit of the old pelvic floor excercise into the routine - make sure I'm fully drawn in so to speak. Misty9 I'm hoping you are a special case Grin I don't want this for the duration!

Big hugs to all who are so bad they have bloody noses, that would be horredous - i'll stop moaning!

I would have thought it was hormone related bt the retch and food connection sugggests something else? Heyho - just one of them things then.

Thanks for the replies.

Sneezed more than usual all the way through. At the end your whole tummy tries to tense, but in the absence of muscles leaves you hunched over like a crazy person haha.

I'm not one to sneeze normally so is this a pregnancy symptom could it be something to do with heighten sense of smell? don't remember having it in my last 2 pregnancies. I'm only 6wks now hope it doesn't get worse.

rightontime · 01/05/2011 11:19

I have found that sneezing is def related to MS. Well hayfever at any rate. If I don't take a hayfever tablet my sickness is much worse the next day.

I don't have a pattern as such but every morning I cough due to excess snot and mucus in my throat which leads to retching - sometimes vomiting - and then I have to blow my nose or sneeze afterwards.

Sneezing doesn't always hurt, does sometimes but I am only 13 weeks.
