Anyone else here with kidney problems?

Am 35+2 now, had a bad case of pyelonephritis at 30 weeks and not really recovered since. Am currently on maintenance antibiotics as I get flare-ups whenever I come off them, so currently am infection free, however I still have hydronephrosis on the right kidney, which according to the last couple of scans is worsening.

The urologist says this is either due to pregnancy or to a stone they couldn't see in the ultrasound, however they can't do a CT to investigate until the baby is delivered.

They could put a stent in to help drainage, but advised to wait and see as long as the pain is bearable with pain killers. It kind of is, although when I overdo it (like walking a mile to get into town) it gets quite strong, also is stronger in the evenings and I don't fancy keeping popping pills.

Also am slightly worried that it will damage my kidney if we just let it go on for another 4 weeks (currently ELCS booked for other reasons at 39+0.)

It doesn't help that I get more and more paranoid, because everytime the pain flares up I'm scared the infection is coming back.

Does anyone have similar experience/advice?

Hi

I had a stent put into my kidney when I was 14 wks pregnant and had my baby 2 weeks ago. I'm due to have it out in about a months time.

What pain killers are you on?

Just paracetamol, and when it gets really bad co-codamol. What was the insertion like, did you feel better straight away or did it take a while?

I have one under developed kidney that I was an outpatient for most of my childhood and my mum says It might cause problems in future if I wanted to have children. Am only 9 weeks at the moment and seeing midwife for first time in a week or so and will be making sure they monitor it throughout as pretty worried about the extra demands being put on it for next few months.

Hope u get the best treatment poss with ur problems as this is a scary enough time as it is without additional health issues.
