I applied a couple of months ago and got a positive response within 2 weeks, I almost fell off my chair I was surprised it was processed so quickly. I heard it can take ages so I wouldn't worry if you haven't heard yet. They must have had a slow week the week I sent mine in.

I also received a letter back from them about 2 weeks later. I would definitely give them a call to check the status of your application- but with the bank holiday weekend, you will probably have to wait until Tuesday to speak to anyone.

I had a letter back in about 2 weeks because there was a mistake on the form. Then about 10 days later I got a call to clarify something.. then a letter a few days later... and first payment a few days after that. So very quick for the JC!
