Yesterday I had a reaction to a plaster. Stung and burnt. Took piriton which eventually helped.

Today I have a rash inside upper arm. No idea what has caused it.

Anyone else had similar?

Hey Onadietcokebreak, I've got Eczema all over my arms and went to the docs who gave me some cream to soothe it. I've heard that we shouldn't take piriton and things like that but not sure if that's right. Doc just said the rashes were all to do with pregnancy, but nothing to worry about! Hope that helps xx

Thank you. I did ring doc yesterday who said piriton okay. Will ring and make an appt for next week as would like something they may control it. Very annoying!

I became allergic to me wedding ring whilst pregnant Grin

I guess I was more reacting to the soap residues that get stuck there. I have never had this apart from when I am pg or bf.

I also developed a bit of a sun allergy - I would get an itchy rash if I sat in the sun, and fake tan even brought me out in a rash.

Your whole body goes through hormonal changes, including skin and hair, therefore it is not unreasonable to expect that you may have changes in tolerance.

Hi. This is weird as I was just thinking of starting a similar thread! I haven't exactly 'suddenly' developed rashes, as I'm a bit prone to ezcema and skin reactions anyway, but they only happen every now and then and they are terrible at the mo. I'm 17 weeks. Terrible red rashes over my arms, bump and sides mainly, but also legs and last week round my jawline. I think it's PG related but also with me a bit stress-related. Didn't have it last PG. Can I recommend Simple Derma lotion? Might not work for everybody but it's the best moisturiser for problem skin I've ever used.

I developed a strange one, I was cutting butternut squash and my skin on my hands all dried up and went tight and shiney!! Still can eat it though!!

Thank you all. Not just me then. Still annoying nevertheless

So relieved to find this thread... I'd been starting to worry about the strange rash suddenly appearing on the back of my hands. I had a similar atopic reaction years back when I had a job which required me to wash my hands with a particularly vile liquid soap, and now seem to be getting it from bog standard washing up liquid. But it sounds like just a normal pregnancy thing.

Rarely a bad move, though, to have an excuse to delegate the washing up...

I appear to have developed allergies to everything in this pregnancy (my second). From sitting on my sofa, being near my cats, in my bed, wearing a top- all makes my throat itch, eyes itch, sinuses blocked, feels like I've had a constant cold throughout and I've still 3 1/2 months to go. Started to take piriton in liquid form but not sure if I should in pregnancy? Assume this will all disappear once i've given birth, if not I might have two 3 year old cats in need of a new home!

HidingInTheUndergrowth · 23/11/2011 20:31

I also got some random rashes that appear on my shoulders for no obvious reason. I have also started finding some tights and trousers really itchy but others are fine so I think it must be something in the material rather then my washing powder.

On the plus side I was overjoyed to find that my hypersensitivity to mosquito bites that would leave me swollen, blistered and bruised if I got bitten completely disappeared as soon as I got pregnant. :o

With DD had severe reaction to mascara that I had always used, swollen itchy was hooooorendous!

My optician was convinced that it was my contact lenses so I switched to glasses but it made no difference, they got so bad I then stopped wearing mascara and they started to settle down.

Out of curiosity I put mascara back on and it flared up confirming that it was mascara that was causing the problem!

Had to go through several brands before I found one that DD didnt object to! Grin

It took weeks, went back to the same mascara afterwards and was fine! Hmm

Now expecting DC4 and have had similar burning sensation but only if I rub my eyes, no where near as bad. Grin

same as mediamama....sudden severe reaction to my cats and anywhere they've been, so by end of night on sofa, am streaming and wheezing worse that I have ever heard my asthmatic husband. Doctor told me I couldn't take antihistamine, but prescribed me a ventalin inhaler which helps with the breathing but doesn't touch the congestion. Was so full of snot (sorry!) this morning it actually made me sick. 4 more months to go - is driving me mad!

MillyStar · 24/11/2011 13:20

My whole body is itching like crazy my bf is calling me Baloo from the jungle book becuase i'm rubbing up against everything to itch myself lol it's horrible!!

I also get sweat rash (nice) under my right boob when i put some weight on and i've got that and i've got it under my tummy too ;( I'm not HUGE byt the way i'm a 16-18!

I'm so sick of scratching, roll on April for me!!!

MsSampson · 24/11/2011 13:31

Hello itchy ladies. It's horrible isn't it? I had a rash all over me for first 2 weeks of pg, but it did go away, thank god. I feel like there are so many more symptoms and indignities to this than anyone ever told me!
Re. Piriton - obv not suggesting people ignore their doctors, but I was told different things by 2 docs at my surgery. One who is puritan about taking nothing at all told me not to, and the other (and pharmacist) said Piriton was fine. It does make me sleep for approx 18 hours a day though which is inconvenient!

spannermary · 24/11/2011 13:40

Itchy nipples!!!! Aaagh!!!!

kiki22 · 24/11/2011 13:51

I've noticed my skin is really dry all the time and can get itchy which i never have and my mum developed dry skin on her hands when she was pg with my sister to the point she had to coat hands in moisturiser then put on gloves to be able to push my pram with out the skin cracking.

Hair dye as well gave me a rash and it was one that is ok to use in pg my hair dresser got it specially, looked like i had nits for 2 days!
