Spotting at 8 Weeks- Slightly Concerned!!

Hi! New to mums net! This is my 2nd pregnancy (the first ended with a mc at 15 weeks) so any bleeding is likely to get me worried!

I had a scan at 6 weeks and it showed a foetus with a heart beat. It also showed some blood that I was warned will come out at some point. So there I am feeling slightly cocky that there has been no bleeding when at 7-8 weeks it happened.

It started with a brown blood clot and brown bleeding for a minute after I went to the toilet and then (I hate to be crude here) but whenever I go "to the toilet"! Its vaginal bleeding not from my rectum. Massively light, fairly bright red, and only enough to mark the tissue but not enough to stain my knickers or wear a pad. Its gone as quickly as it starts and Im not sure whether to be worried! No cramping.

Because we had a miscarriage before, its always in my mind that its going to happen again. Because I was warned about the blood seen on the scan I know that I can't be too suprised when it came out. I was also told that its comman to bleed when your period is due but quite frankly, Im young and scared and dont know what is normal.

Has anyone else had something similar?

Hello, I haven't had but I think if you're worried you should go and see your GP/midwife. Take the tissue with you to show what you're talking about. I know some spotting can be normal but it's so hard to judge online and I think you probably need reassurance from someone who can talk to you face to face. Good luck X

Thank you. I'll get an appointment booked x

Hi there

I'm experiencing my own miscarriage concerns at the moment (1st preg after MMC and I've lost my preg symptoms), but I wanted to say I had bleeding at 5 and 13 weeks with my first pregnancy and my 2 year old is shouting at the television next to me! So, I hope that you're just losing the blood they saw on the scan. If you are going to be upset or torture yourself, I'd second the poster who says to speak to a professional for investigations/reassurance.

LuckyWeKeptTheCot · 28/04/2011 15:21

That's good. I hope all is well for you and your baby. X

I would probably go and see them because it is red but I had brown spotting at 7 and 9 weeks and was terrified but I am now 20 weeks and baby is healthy so it isnt necessarily a really dangerous thing.

I had spotting at similar fortnightly intervals too (now nearly 12 so still quite early days). My early pregnancy unit were adamant that I should call any time it happened basically. Good luck with it being OK - as others have said probably it will be fine, but it just isn't worth the stress of NOT going to check IFYKWIM

Thanks everyone. Wouldn't it be fantastic if there was a test or a definitive way of knowing if you're going to loose it or not!

It the unknown thats agony- and trying to get a blinking appointment too lol!

Im almost certain that nothings up and its just spotting through the straining of a "big job" if you will. like I said most of the time everythings ok. its just quite frankly when I go for a big job! There were some other questions I thought I'd throw at you whilst you're here though!

I have tender nipples (itchy) but not so much breasts? I also have discharge more so than normal? and also Whan does morning sickness end or is it a personal thing?

I'd love to hear your gossip!x

Oroski123 - identical with me and the big job you refer to ;) causing it - in fact the only time it happened was after what they like to term 'bowel movements'. I did ask about it and they said it wouldn't be a cause exactly but I daresay if the cervix is irritated or there is bleeding elsewhere you can imagine that pushes it out.

Don't know about MS or nipples (never had it) but apparently increased discharge is absolutely standard as certainly has been for me. It is called leukorrhea

I know exactly what you mean about having a test to just KNOW. Mentally exhausting isn't it?!

Hope all is ok, I had some bright red spotting at just under 6 weeks, had an early scan and saw all ok with heartbeat, just been for 8 week scan today as had some brown spotting last week (only when wiping after going for a wee) and the sac has grown (8wk measurement) but baby is still at 6 wk measurement and they said the heartbeat was slower than what is normally expected.

Now need to go for a scan in 10 days, am petrified

Oroski123 · 28/04/2011 17:21

Thanks Crazyhead! Thats reassuring! I like to know Im not alone.

Jerseygirl I really hope that everything is going to be ok. If there is still a heartbeat then hopefully its just one of those things. Its painful though that you're going to have to wait ten days though. xx
