Water Infection

Morning ladies,

Have been prescribed some antibiotics (500mg of amoxicillin) for a water infection, am currently 37wks pregnant. Asked GP if the baby would be at any harm to which he replied 'No, but is known to cause early labour but to not to worry as at 37wks you are full term'.

Am not really worried but was wondering if anyonelse has had one in pregnancy. I guess what i'm really asking in a 'beat around the bush' kind of way is...how likely could it be that labour is early...hmm! Thanks x

don't know about it causing early labour, but i've just taken a three day course of the amoxicillin 250mg for a kidney infection. i am 9 weeks pregnant. GP said it was safe.

Congratulations on your pregnancy
I'm sure it is fine then, he is not my usual GP and trying to get any information from him was like trying to get blood from a stone
Think I just want to put my mind at rest, would have been a very inappropriate thing to say IMHO if they do not cause pre labour.

Enjoy your pregnancy and congratulations again!

thank you

i hope you feel better soon. the amoxicillin got rid of the infection very quickly with me.

Chacha, he might have meant the urine infection might provoke labour, rather than the antibiotics. IYSWIM. You can get an irritable uterus with a UTI so I think thats what he meant. Take care, honey.
