I know it's mainly becasue I still can't get into what will be the nursery and therefore feel unorganised but anyone fancy writing a list of things needed?

New mattress for the old cot
new cot bedding

Moses basket - will I need a new mattress? It's been handed round so had about 3 babies sleep in it.

New bedding/sheets for moses basket

a couple of new teats for old avent bottles incase baby needs water.

I'll be breastfeeding but can I just express straight into an avent cup?

dummy, just in case

wash all old vests and sleepsuits etc and buy a couple of new ones

Wash all old celular blankets etc.

Find old cot mobile & clean

maternity towels / breast pads

nappies / sudo cream / baby bath / cotton wool, baby wipes

muslins / bibs

What else have I forgotten?

Car seat? Something for the baby to sit in/lie on at home? I would buy a new mattress for the moses basket too. But other than that, I can't think of anything.

snowsuit for dec bubs if you dont have one.
I have also done the present from adam to baby and vice versa.

Nemo1977 · 05/11/2005 11:22

oh and have bought new baby towels..

expatinscotland · 05/11/2005 12:17

For me, a lot is going to depend on what sex the baby is. Have a lovely DD, but they won't tell you the sex of your child here, so for now I'm just washing all the baby girl clothes just in case. If it's a boy, the clothes will be all ready for donation.

I did buy one of those crescent shaped pillows for feeding, a new cot mattress (b/c DD's is a cotbed and she's still using it as a bed) and sheets - we're borrowing a 2-year-old cot from a family member for this one.

DH has been buying nappies every time we do a shop so we're stocked up.

Angeliz · 05/11/2005 12:22

Thomcat i did change the moses basket matress for peace of mind, (am so soppy i've kept both to just 'have' them), i also 'forgot' to hand back the first little hospital blanket she was wrapped up in so that's also in her memory box!

I still had all the clothes from dd1 and mine were born with 3 days difference in their Birthdays so they all fit-same season. I did buy a whole new coming home outfit though so they've got them too to keep.

Get someone allocated to buy Newspapers of the day too as we forgot. (mind you, you might not be as sentimental as me! )

How exciting....am so broody again!

princesspeahead · 05/11/2005 12:41

I always splash out on new muslins and bibs per baby - the old ones get sort of grubby looking after a while and I reckon it is the least I can do...

also the old muslins make fantastic dusters.

Bozza · 05/11/2005 13:12

Don't think you need to replace the bedding. Although i did buy a pack of those hooded towels cos DS's had gone well flat and out of shape. Also bought a new changing mat becaue other one had split.

ThomCat · 05/11/2005 14:02

Do you really think I don't need new bedding? Hmmmm, just might have to, doesn't feel right otherwise. And will do new moses basket mattress.
Other than that, got the new muslins, the car seat etc etc, so looks like I might not have forgotten anything, so far!
