Hindwaters leaking, induction booked - help! Advice please?

I'm 40+5, 2nd pregnancy. A couple of hours ago I had a small trickle of pinky waters and had MW appt half hour later anyway. I was hoping for a homebirth, but because waters have broken MW has booked me in for induction on Fri morning. She thinks things might not progress as baby's back is to my side, not my front. She said I'm 2cm dilated and also said that the waters around baby's head are still in tact, so I've 'sprung a leak' of hindwaters. I accepted a membrane sweep to try and help things along.

So my questions are: has anyone had a similar situation? Is there anything I can do to help baby move round? And as it's hindwaters am I right in thinking that the risk of infection is lower than if forewaters?

Any advice, experiences shared would be appreciated. Just want to do all I can to get baby out at home.

Thanks.

I haven't been in the exact situation but with DS everyone was telling me labour would be miles off because he was laid back-to-back and he wasn't engaged, that was at 39+4. I went into spontaneous labour at 39+5, he was still back to back and still wasn't engaged. He didn't engage until I was 6cm, my waters didn't break until 10cm, and he didn't turn until he was halfway out.

I know it's not the same situation but I just wanted to say that they can't predict whether or not things are going to happen and when they'll happen so just because they reckon it's unlikely doesn't mean that's the case.

Now get yourself away for a long walk and don't forget to roll those hips with every step to help the baby press down. Hopefuly there'll be a birth announcement soon :)

Thank you, that's reassuring. Will keep walking!
