eating liver pate at 10 weeks and then realising I shouldn't

I've just returned from a family wedding and as nobody knew I was pg (Didn't want to steal any limelight from the happy couple) I made a quick decision when served liver pate to risk food poisoning ( Very posh hotel so I hoped their standards were high.I know terrible decision but I did panic the family who know I adore pate would notice) It was only hours later in bed, I thought, bugger, it's the Vit A risk I'm supposed to be avoiding too!

Can anyone reassure me that one portion of pate will not cause a problem. I feel very very stupid. This is pg3 so I should know better. If I have made a terrible error though, please tell me. There is nothing I can do about it now.

Ta all.

One portion of pate will not cause any problems. You'd need consistently high levels for a serious risk.

Nothing will happen. You're unlikely to get food poisoning at this stage - it would have been manifest well before now.

As for the vit A, as 4pudding says, you'd need to be eating loads regularly for it to make a difference. It's like the alcohol issue. Binge drinking (in the gvmt sense) is dangerous but because the gvmt say to drink nothing at all, vast swathes of women panic after having one glass. Or as I read once on here, from having a risotto from M&S with white wine in it Hmm

You'll be fine! Enjoy your pg and look forward to your scan soon!

One portion a week or so is fine in pregnancy. It's packed with iron as well so is good to have occasionally Smile

Nothing will happen. There's no risk of too much vit A from one portion.
Enjoy your pregnancy!

thank you everyone. I was awake for about an hour trying to talk some sense into myself. I even thought about logging into Mumsnet but wondered how many people would want to discuss pate at 2 in the morning. I'd done so well at my fake alcohol drinking as well. Cannot believe how lax I can be about pg risks. Just cos t's no 3 doesn't mean I'm immune to listeria!!
~I shall rap myself on the knuckles and try to find myself down the pub with a double whiskey in one hand and a cigar in the other!

Thanks again lovelies!! Looking forward to my little glimspe(hopefully) of a ok bean in a week and a half.
