Anyone getting a present from baby to sibling(s)?

my DD will be four and we're getting her a toy farm- has worked out quite expensive as I think I got a bit carried away (that will be the guilt at work!) but she is quite excited at the prospect of the baby bringing her a present!

I'm pg with our first, but it sounds like a good idea!

I was just thinking that we got loads of stuff from people for her when she was born so thought it would be nice for her to have something to open/distract her.

I did this with dd, she "gave" ds a little tin box full of toy diggers and lorries. He absolutely loved it, still refers to it them as Frankie's lorries and has spent many a happy hour breaking playing with them.

I'm buying DS a doll so that he can look after his baby and copy mummy when feeding changing nappies etc
DS is 2yo I might get a doll that pees in a potty for toilet training too 2 birds 1 stone

I did for DS1 from DS2 and I also got my mum to take DS 1 out to choose a gift (teddy) for the baby. Now expecting no3 and DS1 has asked to do the same thing again - this time go out with his brother and grandma to choose a present for DS3.
Make sure you choose a present from the baby to your older one that doesn't require adult help to play with.

Don't need to get dd1 a doll as have told her already she is in charge of changing the new baby (I wish!)

Yes, we've got a new police car and new helicopter for the boys from their new sister.

Not sure yet, but something she can play with on her own that I can chat to her about while feeding DC2!

Yes I will, I'm not sure what yet though.

I'll probably get her a doll and books etc before hand because she doesn't have one yet, and will be nearly 3 by the time baby arrives so could probably do with some time to get into the swing of it.

When ds1 came to visit me in hospital after dd was born, there was a little wrapped present waiting in her bassinet for him. I dint remember what it was, possibly a train (he was and still is train-mad).

When ds1 and dd came to visit me in hospital after ds2 was born, there were little wrapped presents waiting in his bassinet for them. This time they were "I'm the big brother!" and "I'm the big sister!" t-shirts.

These presents were always from the baby. It was very cute, a couple of years later, when they worked out that the baby could not have brought the presents.

I also made sure to have a bag of little presents hidden away, so that if visitors came with gifts and a fuss for the baby, and forgot about the elder sib/s, there was always something for the sib/s.

Yes, its well worth it, DS1 got a garage from DS2 (18 month gap) and it distracted him from all the attention on DS2 and he felt special to have a big present from his new brother. Now they are expecting a sister and my big boy is getting a balance bike and my little boy is getting Big garage (whizzaround elc one finally going in the loft until baby girl grows big enough - she's bound to be into cars too with 2 brothers)
