I have TRIED to be good. I really have. But I sort of figure the baby isnt here til August, and I needed a new superking size bed (so comfy, back is a lot better too). And I have to buy clothes that fit (I don't look like I have put on a lot of weight, and I havent, but I have grown 3 knicker & bra sizes and 2 dress sizes).

And the Dyson hose split, we fixed with gaffer tape but the sicton isnt as good.....so I just bought the new Pet Rollerball one. n secret from OH. He keeps saying we should be saving, not spending! But I think if we don't get them now we never will when the baby comes.

Are you being good/being bad/being the same?

Ha! I can seriously empathasise with you. Mine's due in September and we have SO much to buy and do before then: building rennovation work, baby stuff, new white goods.... so far we've saved £1k. It's going to cost, well.... a LOT more than that!

I have bought 1 new dress so far and waiting for ebay maternity clothes to arrive. But, trying to limit maternity clothes and mainly buy from ebay.

Trying to be good, but quite possibly failing!

I am currently saving like mad as I only get paid for 6wks after the birth and all my mummy friends got at least 6 months so it's scaring the hell out of me- although I did have a bit of a blow out at the w/e and bought a pair or crazily high shoes from RI and a top to match but managed to convince DH to pay for my shoes cos he knows how good I've been in the last 6 months! Grin

Have about £200 left to pay on cot/pram etc so we need to get that sorted in the next few wks.

I have setup a little spreadsheet to account for all my spnding and I have saved £500 every month for the last 4 months and my DH will have to same saved by the time the LO comes, so I plan to give myself an allowance every month just like I have been paid normally-whether it happens or not is a diff story!

It is really hard but the though of being at home for 9 months with no money really spurs me on! gd luck Smile

We are being bad. Another August baby here. We figure that this is the last few months of having two proper incomes and we might as well do the spending we want to do now so we don't have to do it in 18 months or whatever when we are skint...
so we've had some new chairs, a carpet cleaner, a laptop and finally got a nice picture to go above the fireplace. Obviously have also got baby shopping to do before too long for the big stuff like cot, pram, carseat etc.

On the other hand we do consider the finances carefully and none of it has been impulse purchases, all things we have wanted to do/planned to do for a while.

with Split on this one, although with DP away at the moment it's easier to save a bit more.

only big things other than a new bed/sofa is some new work boots for him. otherwise stuff for the baby we picked out in a local shop and basically I go in and pay a bit off each month but literally then it's all paid when bubs arrives. I do plan an allowance as well, £100 per week for food/petrol/my personal bills & everything max. have started doing it now so I can get used to it as I think I probably won't do lol.

Being good.

The more you spend the less you will be able to save and this may affect whether you can afford to take extended mat leave.

hmmm a bit bad I guess coz we still eat out a lot and haven't really cut down on anything in particular ;) but I am getting a good maternity package and have saved over the past few months - this month was bad because I had to buy some clothes - all my stuff is not super comfortable but to be fair am only shopping at H&M and Zara so not really spending THAT much, def. won't be buying any shoes or handbags for a while which were my worst addictions ;)
We did spend a bit on getting house done - sanding floors, painting and we bought a few lamps then again we needed those items/jobs done anyway so might as well do it before baby comes.
Haven't bought a single thing for baby yet!!! Really proud of myself ;) will start slowly after 20 wk scan :) and can't wait!!!!
