Nine weeks and no weight gain

Hi, has anyone else experienced this? With other pregnancies I had piled on a few pounds by this stage, but I haven't put on any weight at all - I am 10st 6 as always which is normal for my height. I have been eating plenty so feel quite worried. I have had a scan which showed everything was fine a week ago....am convinced something is wrong.

well, baby barely weighs anything at 9 weeks, there is no placenta and blood volume shouldn't have increased so much that it would make a difference to your weight at this point, I think..
with DC1 I only gained a stone up to 32 weeks, most of that was between 24-32 weeks, then I gained a further 3 stone in the last 5.5 weeks!

this time I didn't put on weight at all until about 30 weeks and have not really gained that much since, either (40+4 now)..
I don't think it's anything to worry about, tbh, because all you would be gaining at the moment is actual fat weight, so it doesn't have anything to do with your baby's development.

Try not to worry, I didn't gain any weight until about 20 weeks! (and worried about it too)

frakyouveryverymuch · 25/04/2011 08:39

I didn't put on until 20 weeks.

Have you been feeling sick/eating less than usual/eating differently? Otherwise maybe your metabolism has just speeded up!

OrangeGloss · 25/04/2011 08:40

This is my first pregnancy so I can't compare, but I'd lost weight at 9 weeks, and have now made up for it putting on 17lbs at 21 weeks - I was 9st 10 to start with, and have eaten healthily

mrsravelstein · 25/04/2011 08:41

my 3rd pregnancy i put on very little weight compared to the previous two, when i was showing by 12 weeks, and didn't really start until about 22 weeks

lolajane2009 · 25/04/2011 08:42

Be happy about being blessed with no weight gain!

crazyhead · 25/04/2011 08:44

I am 11 weeks and haven't gained. If you already have kids, maybe running around after them is keeping you slimmer!

If you think of how much skinnier people were in the 60s and 70s, we're a well nourished lot these days, and prob have very little need to put on at this stage

Enjoy it I reckon, less to lose when the pregnancy is over ;)

ImBrian · 25/04/2011 09:20

I'm 10 weeks and havent gained. I think though I've prob lost some weight not drinking so its just stayed the same.

magicmelons · 25/04/2011 09:26

This is my 3rd and i haven't put on any, last pregnancy, i am about 8 weeks i had lost half a stone from all the vomiting and my 9lb 2 baby was born completely healthy, they're all different your baby is only about the size of a grape, try not to worry.

Jill72 · 25/04/2011 09:59

I am 15 weeks have lost about half a stone. Think it is a combination of not drinking, eating better and small portions - just can't eat big platefuls like before!!

clarabella18 · 25/04/2011 11:29

I'm 36+5 with number 2 and have only put on 4pounds and this has only been in the last couple of weeks. Have been reassured that baby is fine and am just lucky, although yo be fair I am carrying a lot of extra weight anyway so it's not like I'm goin to waste away.

edwinbear · 25/04/2011 19:39

I'm 9+5 with my 2nd and also not gained. I'm amazed as I'm eating us out of house and home and am starting to wonder if our scales are broken :-). But, having taken 18 months to shift the weight from DS, I shall be very pleased to keep the weight gain to a healthy minimum this time.

TurtlesAreRetroRight · 25/04/2011 19:43

Please don't worry. I'm 19wks and despite a sizeable bump I've gained about 6lbs maximum. At 12 weeks I'd gained half a pound.

With dd I put on about 17 stone a week or thereabouts. Just different pregnancies.

KatyCustard · 25/04/2011 19:46

I'm 8 + 6 and have lost 13 pounds. However I was 14st 13lbs when I concieved so although I hate being sick and not feeling like eating much, it does have it's advantages! I can stand to lose a bit of weight! Grin

marthamay · 25/04/2011 19:53

I'm 9 weeks with #2 and realised this morning that I'd lost nearly 1 stone Shock!!!!!
It means by my booking app in two weeks I'll be back down to my pre-DS1-preg weight!!!! Crazy but can't say I'm worried, more like...hmmmm...thrilled(yes, very shallow I know).
I'm still BF so I'm wondering if that, combined with the preg is burning up everything. I hope it doesn't become an issue.

Ilovekittyelise · 25/04/2011 20:02

i'd just be inclined to say 'count yourself lucky'! try not to worry, i know plenty of people this has happened to, just not me BOO!!!
