No ovulation and clomid

Hello

I was recently prescribed clomid 50mg to take for 3 months.
I've had all the fertility investigations and my bloods confirmed no ovulation.
I stopped taking the pill 6 years ago and haven't fallen pregnant since then.

I'd really appreciate someone's story in a similar situation. How soon if at all did you ovulate?

I was on the pill for 13 years and when I came off I really tought I'd get pregnant staright away. However, 6 months later nothing had happened and DH and I started trying a healthier lifestyle (no alcohol, less rubbish food etc) thinking it might help...it didn't! In October 2003 I went to doctor who did a blood test and said I wasn't ovulating, I felt devastated, like I'd wasted nearly a year! Started taking it that month and got pregnant with my first ovulation . However, the pregnancy didn't last and I hada miscarriage on Christmas Eve 2003 . The doctor told me to waita few months before starting again but I oculdn't! So I took it again in January and discovered I was pregnant in February! That pregancy resulted in my first DS who is now 6 and a half. In 2006 when we decided to try again I assumed I'd need to use CLomid again but the first time we had unprotected sex I got pregnant! And that resulted in my second DS who is 4 next week. All in all Clomid was very successful for me, and for some reason having the first baby seemed to kick-start everything as it brought back regular periods that I hadn't had for years, and another pregnancy within 24 hours of deciding we should try!!! {grin} Good luck

Thank you for that. Since receiving the prescription I feel as though I am one step closer and until I'm told NO I'll keep trying! I've had pregnancy symptoms every month, that have turned out to be pre menstrual. Without morning sickness and a pregnancy test I wouldnt have a clue!!

Hi Tanster, did your doctor confirm why you aren't ovulating, eg do you have polycystic ovaries?

My doc referred me to a specialist at the hospital on the NHS. Had to wait 4 months for the appt. They're so busy we were in and out in minutes...with a clomid prescription. Perhaps that's a question I should of asked but at the time I was so relieved to hear that my results were ok and that I was going to be prescribed clomid!!

I'm 11 weeks after 3 cycles of clomid. After 2 at 50mg they told me to take 100mg.
Scans showed it was doing ok, but the blood test came back as no evidence of ovulation (and they were deciding whether to up the dose to 150).

As no period are 5 weeks, I took a preg test, as I was doing a lot at this time, and it was positive! Still no idea why the blood test was negative for ovulation?

Please hang in there, stay confident, and ask whether a higher dose could be appropriate? They might want to see a few more cycles first.

We were TTC for nearly 20 months and am now 21 + 5 with my first baby. I was prescribed 50mg Clomid after they confirmed PCOS. I got my BFP after second cycle. I hadn't had a period for 9 months. After 1st dose I had a 42 day cycle, second cyle was a 35 day cycle but got BFP. If hadn't got BFP that month I was hoping the next one would be nearer the 28 day mark. They monitored it via weekly urine tests to check if I was ovulating but I din't get the results until the end of the month. I used a Clearblue Fertility Monitor alongside to see what was going on (although not recommended whilst on fertility treatment!) and the month that we got lucky we SWI al LOT!!!

Im now 23 weeks after my second month of clomid. We had been ttc for nearly two years

I used to get 'false' symptoms too every month. The best advice I can give is dont get your hopes up too much. I got really upset after the first month didnt work.

Well after 3 months of clomid I am pregnant. It is early days yet, I think I am around 4-5 weeks, but I am so pleased to have taken a test and got a positive. I tested three days ago and I still cannot believe it. It does go to show that by giving clomid time to settle into your body and a little patience goes a long way :-)
