Is a week too early to take a test and what do you think the chances are?

Hiya,

I am on the pill. I had my period and was supposed to restart my next month of pills last Thursday, I forgot and started taking them again the day after, so a week ago today. DP and I had sex without a condom on the Saturday and now I feel queasy and am worrying myself just in case I am pregnant. Is it too early to take a test? I think it is. It's unlikely I am pregnant anyway isn't it?

Any insight welcomed! Thanks

Could be wrong but I was under the impression it takes two weeks to ten days to implant??

Thanks pecka. I googled and the BBC Health site says that:

"What if I forget to take the pill?

It's important to take the combined pill at a regular time each day. You have 'missed a pill' if you take it more than 24 hours later than your usual time.

Missing one pill anywhere in the pack, or starting your pack one day late, is not a problem, but missing more than one pill or starting the packet more than one day late could affect your contraceptive cover - seek advice."

I'd assume that the BBC was a reliable enough source to believe right?

Hi, it's too early to test, you need to wait until your next period is due. Some of the tests you can use a day or two before your period is due, but better to wait to get a true result. I know its hard to wait, but the chances are you won't be pregnant. Also, its extremely unlikely that you would feel queasy that early on in a pregnancy, so its probably unrelated.
Good luck - hope things turn out OK for you.

Thanks, the queasy thing - I figured it would be too early but you know what it's like, all of a sudden you pay loads of attention to your body and any twinge is a sign!

It is unlikely but entirely possible that you could get pregnant from effectively missing one pill (my SIL did). It is too soon to tell though - even with a first response test you would need to wait until about three or four days before your next period is due.
