Had them really bad about 8 weeks ago and since then haven't been too bad. On Movicol and eating huge amounts of fibre & drinking lots of water, but think it's just the weight of this baby now!

Got another really painful prolapsed one so think I'll be spending Easter in bed :( , can't sit down & walking like John Wayne!

Really hope I don't go into labour until it's resolved itself a bit, simply excruciating at the moment.

So basically just here for some sympathy :(

Oh no sweet heart your baby is ready to come out to the world don't worry about piles. When I went into labour with my 3rd dd I had piles and the nurse pressed tissue on my bottom hole because I was pushing at the time, it is nothing to be ashamed about they have seen it all befor I was not at all embarressed and your body will work its way back to normal a few weeks after the birth. Don't worry Smile

I feel your pain, literally!

The only thing I have felt helps is liquid witch Hazel on a cotton wool pad and then leave it there.

Good luck with the birth and it will be fine x

Thank you!

Not embarrassed, in too much pain for that, happily whipped 'em out for doc last time.

Taking some codeine prescribed by the doc to try to help me sleep but it's really difficult :(

Just wanted to feel rested and be able to enjoy the birth and don't think I will if anything happens now!

Thanks for the witch Hazel tip- will send DH to chemist tomorrow.

4pudding,
your doc did tell you that codeine is a very good constipator , didn't she?
your post made me get out my dried fruit subconciously, which I am now eating as I write!!

you could ditch the codeine and treat the piles like this: stick with the movicol, add dry apricots, get DH to get you some frozen peas ( bear with me) and some anusol type cream with local anaesthetic in it. Then you need some pillows and cushions and lie down on it with your bum higher than your heart. then cover peas with tea towel and press on offending piles once you've put on the cream. Apply pressure gently... they may shrink and return back thru sphincter (the squeezing of sphincter is what hurts.) some people also put on a glove and use a bit of vaseline or olive oil to apply pressure and pop them back in.
Not very glam, but will prob get you some sleep from relieving the pain without using codeine, which turns it into a vicious circle.

xx

ps and paracetamol is fine , without side effects...

IMissSleep · 23/04/2011 08:07

Codine makes you constipated so I wouldn't take that, drink LOTS of water!!

Also agree with Anusol Cream, works wonders :)

4pudding · 23/04/2011 08:17

Thank you. Yes I know codeine is a constipator, not having problems there though as Movicol is keeping everything ahem soft & moving! Using the codeine as little as poss anyway.

This one is unfortunately way past stage of being returned to the inside! Just have to wait for it to go, last one took about 4-5 days with hydrocortisone & lidocaine cream.

This pregnancy lark is soooo glamorous at times!

Lol re unglamorousness.
OK MY grossness is - a pregnancy epulis - a little oestrogen driven growth on my gum that makes bedtime toothbrushing look like something out of saw every night - and sometimes when I'm having biscuits at coffee with work colleagues - great .
And I have a wierd montgomery's gland ON ( not around, where it should be) a nipple, that sometimes goes up to pea size and I have to hide from DH until I have sorted it out.
MAybe we could start a pregnancy embarrasing bodies. On second thoughts I think it might be unfair on the british public...

You do get to the stage where you just want to give up don't you? I honestly feel less sexy than Heather (Eastenders reference!) right now. Sore bum, boobs like udders, swollen face & feet, big veiny belly, grouchy as hell too.

They should send me round schools to preach safe sex right now!

"They should send me round schools to preach safe sex right now!"

LOL, my friend emailed me when she had really had enough - "I have VV on my V".

As a UN embarrassing bodies team, we'd probably solve the world population crisis problem I reckon. Oh wait - only 3 weeks to go. Might be a bit ambitious. Good luck with the rest of it xx
