Has anyone got any experience of taking Avomine (Promethazine) tablets for 'morning' sickness?
Did they work for you?
I've been very sick since week 5, now 14, and am at my wits end. I've just been prescribed Avomine.

However I've been reading the latest research on Diclectin which is available in Canada and had excellent results. See www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

Has anyone any experience of attempting to request this from their GP?

Yes, i took Avomne (but was 5 years ago), worked well for me, i was working with food and was at risk of being signed off (as not allowed near food after 48 hours of being sick).

I've been taking Metaclopramide and that has been working well for me. Only on week 8 though, so a way to go!

come over to the hyperemesis thread, there are loads of us on various drugs, nothing is tmi and lots of food ideas.

I am on cyclizine and 16 weeks so no experience of avomine but come on over as there are some that have had avomine.

The general rule in UK is they prescribe the cheapest ones first. If they don't work then they move up until they get to the most expensive.

If you can't find the thread I'll happily link you :)

here you go

I was going to point you to the hyperemisis thread too. Seeing as how I am here, I tried metroclopromide - worked for a bit, Avomine I just threw up and now on cyclizine, although I was being so sick I had to have it by IV in hospital to start with. I also have Ondanestron tablets to take in between if I need them. Stemitil worked too in last pg.

Okay thanks, I'll take a look at that thread.
