In Hospital For Bleeding - Again!!

Sorry in advance ladies, this is going to basically be a moan.

I am nearly 28wks now and yesterday had my 4th bleed. The other 3 were in the 1st trimester so I thought I was over all that, but clearly not. It was only a small one but the midwife wanted me to come in anyway. Luckily I am self employed so it was no problem to drop everything.

I had to wait 3 hrs for a scan which confirmed that my placenta is still completely covering the os. Doctor suggested giving me steriod injections to boost baby's lungs as premature delivery is a risk. I was a bit Shock as it hadn't even occurred to me that baby may be in danger. I discussed it with a midwife I know well who confirmed that there would be no adverse effects to baby, can only do good, so I agreed to go ahead. At this state I had been sitting on a hospital bed for 5 hours with only a banana in me and just wanted to get it over and done with. Luckily they realised I needed to eat and brought me a hot dinner - yuck but appreciated!

I need to go back today at 3pm for another steriod injection (they bloody hurt btw!). It is a pain as my 2 DC's are with their Nana 5hrs drive away and we were meant to go down there today to be with them for the rest of the week. Luckily she was fine about having them on her own for another day (they have been there for 6 days already!!). Doc wanted to put me on 48hr bed rest Hmm but I told her that was absolutely NOT possible so she agreed that I "rest" for 24hrs. Sitting on your bum at work is resting right??!!

So I will have the last jab today at 3pm then we will leave for MIL at 8am tomorrow all being well. Am just so fed up of all the drama as I had absolutely straight forward pg's with DD and DS with lovely home births. Am still booked in for a home birth IF the placenta moves up and out of the way, otherwise it's out the sun roof for this one!

Thanks for reading if you've got this far!! Smile

Didn't want to read and run, and I did get that far. Sorry you are having a bad time of it, you are in the best place. Fingers crossed all goes well for you now.

Bad luck. I had bleeding in the 3rd trimester with DS and it is really worrying. You are doing the right thing and fingers crossed for a relaxed Hmm or at least normal home birth. Try and get some rest while the DCs are still out of the house!
