Bleeding due inflammed cervix - how will this affect pg?!

I'm 17+4w pg with id twins. I've been to hospital today with 3rd bleed of pg. This time it was brown old blood but still scary. They're not too worried but I saw a doctor and a registrar who confirmed my cervix isn't quite right and is inflammed which is causing the bleeding. I have a scan in 2 weeks so they've said to stick with that appointment and see how it goes.

How does this affect pg - is it more likely to lead to premature labour etc? I should have asked but I was trying to entertain my 3 year old while talking to the doctors.

Is there anything I should/shouldn't do?

When they say 'inflamed' do they mean ectropia/ erosion of cervix? If erosion of cervix it is [in my experience and understanding] harmless. It is a hormonal thing that does not affect length of/ strength of cervix; just surface. Just check if that is what they mean by 'inflamed' because then you would be able to relax.
