Maternity leave question

Hi can anyone advise?! LO expected on 17th August Being a teacher I'm hoping to work up until end of term (21st July) So on the form I need to put EDD as 1st day of mat leave? Is this right?! Maternity leave won't start for me on last day of term as I'll work as normal and start summer hols as normal. Any experiences/ advise much needed !

I was due in september but just did the two teacher training days in september and then was off on maternity leave - I know if you are due in summer hols then as soon as you have the baby thats you on maternity leave even if baby comes early. I think that is right because its like if you are ill on the last day of term you still have to bring in a doctors note to cover your illness in a holiday.The weird world of teaching.

Your union should be able to advise or your schools personnel person.

I am a teacher and I believe that you are entitled to full pay during holidays, so any holiday weeks in your maternity should be full pay. Therefore you are on full pay untill you stop working and go on ML - in your case as the days leading up to this will be holiday I would assume you are still 'working' or still in your contractual pay and conditions. Lucky you - a few weeks rest on fullpay before the baby is born!!! winner!!

Is it the 'Burgundy' Book that teachers' agreements are in? I recall (from an HR redundancy perspective, not mat leave) that the terms include the holidays so you get your salary evenly and are entitled to those holidays as part of the NTA, so I would say put your EDD as your EDD - but would also follow the other advice and go to your Union x

What Pootletrinket said. Our holiday pay is spread out evenly throughout the year. But yes, because your due date is in the holidays you don't need to start maternity leave until your due date - good planning!
