What tog grobags?

I have two 0-6 month grobags with a 2.5 tog rating. Is that going to be too much for a baby due in the next couple of weeks? Don't want the little thing to overheat. I got them cheap enough off eBay, so won't have lost much if I do need to get new ones.

In other people's opinion, what's the ideal combination to have?

My son's in 2.5tog at the moment, with a short sleeve vest and a long sleeve sleepsuit. I am about to go and buy a couple of 1togs but as his room is still dropping down to about 14-15 degrees overnight I won't be putting him in it for at least another month.

I think it really depends what sort of temp room your baby will be sleeping in. Also you probably won't be using them for the first month or so unless your newborn is quite large.

If you've go on the Grobag site I think it has a chart saying what combinations for what temperature.

I would recommend the Gro-Egg for telling temperature in the room at a glance, it doubles as a nightlight and goes from blue for too cold, yellow just right, orange too hot. Smile

I liked using the lightweight summer ones all summer and a clouple of blankets if the temperature dropped. With a grobag, dd didn't kicked the covers off.

I had dd1 at the end of May four years ago and never took the Grobag out of it's packaging- she was quite big (read: fat) with a head full of hair, and sleeping in the same room as us so never got cold at all.

Looking at gro-bags, I hadn't realised until yesterday that they don't cover the baby's arms... does anyone find this is a problem? I personally hate sleeping with my arms or shoulders exposed, is this something that affects babies too? Or just older children/adults?

Never had a prob with DD and gro bags seasonally she wore sleeves, short sleeves, vest and sometimes just nappy under them, depending on the temp around.

We just layer long or short sleeve vests under sleepsuit, or do without one or other, as appropriate.
