anyone else?

I'm only 40+2, but DD arrived at 33+5, and we all (Drs included) expected this one to come early too so I've been ready & waiting for about 8 weeks now....

I'm obviously very pleased that this one has behaved itself & stayed in an appropriate amount of time, but honestly... it can come out now! I'm down to my last 3 raspberry leaf tea bags, have had 2 reflexology sessions, & am bored of curry - if it carries on for too much longer I might even have to contemplate having sex! Shock

PS Have you been doing Rebozo sifting and inversion? If not would definetely do that.

Pootletrinket · 20/04/2011 17:18

Thanks Selina will try hands through hole and, no, don't think have seen Rebozo - sawthe Walchers- roll but noticed it's only for labour (please, soon!!!)

nuttysquirrel · 20/04/2011 17:31

Can I join in too, I'm 40+11 and booked for induction tomorrow at the big CLU, so feeling a bit sad as was 40+21 with DS last time and had the full drip/epidural combo then (wasn't too bad in the end). I was hoping for a waterbirth at the MLU this time Sad. Last night from 9pm to 9am had good early labour regular contractions (30-40 seconds long every 5 mins approx) and had been attached to my TENS and all fine, fell asleep this morning, woke up and not very much apart from continuing show. I cannot feel my cervix and suspect it is still high...........and baby still not dropping. Will try some more sex which seemed to help last night, just feeling like time is running out.........Any advice, more nipple stim??

Pootletrinket · 20/04/2011 17:59

Oh nutty, I feel your pain - I too am hoping for water this time, even if as partly pain relief rather than water birth, so understand the 'loss' of this.

I don't have much advice (but well done you on the sex, would imagine nipple stim would be helpful!) - maybe some ball bouncing if you have one?

SelinaDoula · 20/04/2011 19:56

This is the video for the REbozo-
www.spinningbabies.com/techniques/activities-for-fetal-positioning/rebozo-sifting
Its quite easy to do, you just need a cotton ish throw/shawl/baby wrap etc
AFter 5-10 mins of that you do the inversion for-
spinningbabies.blogspot.com/2007/02/how-to-do-inversion.html
You do need someone to help you with he rebozo and better to have someone there for inversion in case you get dizzy. Only do 30-60 seconds.
My only other advice is to have those couple of G+T or glasses of wine and an early night- Sleep while you can!

bessie been checking out the posterior babes link. Not sure I have enough time to get the exercises in, been getting regular twinges now (every 5 mins) for past hour. Even though its my second time I still am unsure whether its the real thing - been having BH so often for past week or so, just assuming that is all it is.

Where's that gin??

bessie26 · 20/04/2011 20:31

Jurassic I know what you mean, this is my second & I'm not sure if I'm having anything to be concerned/pleased about either.

I'm getting low down period type pains for 30-45sec every 5mins ish (DH is now timing them properly) for at least half an hour. I need to get the ILs round to babysit DD if something is happening, so might have to phone the MW soon to check what to do...

spilttheteaagain · 20/04/2011 20:33

ooh bessie just barging in to wish you luck! xx

jurassicpark · 20/04/2011 20:48

Same here Bessie getting back/period pain for about the same length of time, every 7 minutes at the moment though. There's no way this can just be BH. They have that creeping sensation.

Need to get ILs over to babysit too but what if this takes ALL night, do I sit with them all night having a nice wee chat...

Do you need to contact midwife sooner if it is your second??

Pootletrinket · 20/04/2011 21:47

Good luck Bessie and Jurassic!! Can you just send the ILS to bed so they can look after your DC in the morning?

Selina, I feel completely Blush but when I put my hand through the hole (!), I can't lift my other leg!!! Not sure if it's too heavy, not enough strength or bump too big/in the way - DH did say I am quite short of leg anyway and ask if I want his assistance- should we try that like the rebozo?!

SelinaDoula · 20/04/2011 21:57

Yes, you could do, just make sure he only pulls the leg slowly and gently, you feel the strech deep in your buttock and it is quite a sharp feeling but if he holds it for 30 secs of so it should stop hurting and relax. Make sure you do both sides.
You could then get him to help you do a side lying pelvic release-
www.spinningbabies.com/techniques/activities-for-fetal-positioning/pelvic-floor-release
Then do the rebozo and inversion after.
Then you had better have that drink and the early night!
Crossing my fingers for labour tonight/tomorrow!

any news Jurassic?

When I spoke to the MW she said it sounded like something was definitely going to happen so it was probably worth getting the ILs round, so they & DH are watching tv downstairs and I've come upstairs to do some serious pacing & rotating! Mine are coming every 5 mins for 45-50 secs. MW said to go in when they were more like a minute or really painful. I've had a couple of paracetamol & have had the TENS machine on & all is fine at the moment. I just want it to either kick off or not now so I can decide whether or not to try to sleep!!

pootle it sounds like you've been having fun with weird positions?! Careful you don't get stuck!

Pootletrinket · 21/04/2011 08:15

Bless you, Bessie, hope it's going well for you and Jurassic!!

Will try those again tonight, Selina (before the drink and early night!), I flaked out after all those circles/bounces today. Off for a lopsided walk this morning before MW comes to see if I can be 'swept'!!!

Oh, please me next!!!!

SelinaDoula · 21/04/2011 09:01

Sounds good. Hope she can sweep you today!

Hopandpop · 21/04/2011 09:02

hiii im 6 days over now and other two were early so im alittle annoyed now! made dp DTD last night gave me 8 hours of contractions-which stopped- this is secind time thats happened had a sweep that didnt work too :( not even an induction date yet! baby GET OUT!

Pootletrinket · 21/04/2011 09:37

Thanks Selina, me too!!!

Hello Hopandpop - sorry to hear about your false starts, hope it gets going properly soon.

Pootletrinket · 21/04/2011 10:11

Grr - MW left message on my WORK mobile (not tried at home) saying she's cancelled me so not coming and is too busy to rearrange now. Am really really miffed (and thats uber polite!)

Oobis · 21/04/2011 10:45

Any progress anyone? I had a bloody show this morning, fingers crossed I won't spend the whole sunny bank holiday weekend in hospital!

SelinaDoula · 21/04/2011 10:50

That is totally out of order Pootle, can you ring this office and complain? Maybe you can pop into the hospital and have one done?
S

Pootletrinket · 21/04/2011 10:59

I've rung, Selina, they don't generally answer the phone between 10 and 4, so really very unhappy with her. Her message said she didn't know why she'd cancelled it; knew I had one 2 days ago, saw I'd got an induction on Tues, should she come out over the weekend -sounds to me like she knew she shouldn't have crossed me out.

Was all psyched up for it, not sure if anyone will get back to me during the day, so could either waste it waiting or get out and walk my frustrations out.

But thankss, I thought it was out of order, too

SelinaDoula · 21/04/2011 11:19

Is there anyone else that could do it? Speak to a supervisor of midwives or you could get a consultant to do it at the hospital?

SelinaDoula · 21/04/2011 11:21

It is worth a go, having 2 sweeps within a couple of days will make it much less likely you will need induction. Will you accept it on tuesday or ask for expectant management?
One of our homebirth group negotiated to use the MLU to birth up to 43 weeks. You could ask to speak to a supervisor and inform them you want to be able to use the MLu/Pool etc up to (42 weeks or whatever is your personal feeling on this)

Well done Bessie26. Congratulations!

Pootletrinket · 21/04/2011 11:46

Congratulations Bessie that's fantastic news!!!! 41 weeks today? Guess you didn't need your reflexology appointment today (although I still reckon one afterwards would be lovely!). Hope it went OK and you're feeling good xx

Selina - Just managed to get through again, spoke to the MW who wouldn't sweep on Tues, who said there is noone who can sweep me today, my MW will come Sat morning.

There is a SOM I got on with really well last pregnancy (4+ years ago), saw her Tues and she remembered me, have arranged to speak to her first thing Monday morning (although she's on A/L after that day) so will try and get some agreed parameters with her, would trust her to advocate for me - either no induction (although I have to then go to CLU every day for CTG) or agree to gel induction and then can use the pool etc....
