The Baby Show

Hello

I went to the baby show at Olympia the other weekend and was totally overwhelmed by the scale of it all - did anyone else find the same thing?

I found some fish oil for pregnant women and it sounds like a good idea (I read and re-read the information!) but... I'd like to know whether anyone else uses fish oil and if so, which one?
Can I buy any fish oil or do they have to be designed especially for pregnancy?

I have so many questions but I think I'm going round in circles at the moment so would welcome some advice!

Thanks
mummysandy

Hi there, I asked the same question on here a while ago and the consensus was that it was best to stick to special preg ones to avoid vit A and mercury. There is a brand called 'mumomega' sold in Boots and Tesco - quite expensive I'm afraid about £12 for 30 but they are most needed from 27 weeks to term I have read. Good luck!

mumo mega has got other vitamins in aswell hasn't it? which if taking a multi Vitamin and mineral like pregnancare can make you overdose on some vitamins which can cause problems.

i am concerned about the same thing and would like proper advise on the subject but my gp would prob not know.

all over the internet it says about fish oils being good to prevent premature birth, and says cod liver oils are not good in pregnancy but fish oils are ok. i am unsure myself as have had alot of conflicting information. i am taking 2000mg fish oils a day and a seperate pregnancy multivitamn and mineral and extra calcuim and magnesuim.
do you think i should stop taking the fish oils ?

I've been wondering about fish oils too, as I don't eat any fish at all and I'm sure I must be missing out on vital things...........already taking a pregnancy multi-vit so not sure what to take now.....

I've looked on the back of my mumogmega and apart from fish oils, all it seems to have is evening primrose oil and some vit E so I think you can take other vitamins as well. Personally I take folic acid with calcium and vitamin d.
