I am 26 weeks and can feel the baby but can't see it. I didn't really feel my dd all the way through my previous pregnancy . Do some people not carry the baby differently and therefore never 'see' it .?

Hi,
I'm 35 Weeks and still haven't seen a foot or fist when ive been kicked, although i can really feel it.

I think your right in everyone is different and it also depends on how the babys laying and where our placenta is.

I am 26+3 and have just started seeing movements - like bits of belly suddenly poking out or rippling - is that what you mean? I can't imagine seeing the outline of a foot or anythng, although I've heard of it!

figgygal · 16/04/2011 16:27

oh god that will take a lot of getting used to its one of the reasons i have put off kids as long as i have as it freaks me out bigstyle!!!!!

Pootletrinket · 16/04/2011 16:28

At 40+ weeks with my second, never seen anything other than the odd shape - certainly nothing definable

sharbie · 16/04/2011 16:28

i have had 2dcs and never saw this at all

CBear6 · 16/04/2011 17:12

I used to see the odd lump or bump late on with DS but I never saw anything as clear as a footprint or handprint.

There's a photo on the Internet of someone with a perfect foot shape sticking out of her belly but it's a fake. The baby is behind your abdominal wall (around an inch of skin/tissue/muscle), your uterine wall, and then the amniotic fluid. Lumps and bumps and ripples are normal but being able to count toes is unlikely.

RingEir · 16/04/2011 17:32

I am 25 weeks and can just now see my tummy moving but like OPs have said, it's just bumps and shaking, nothing I can identify as a limb.

DD had this trick where she would wedge her head down as far as possible and then stretch her feet up as hard as she could against my ribs. It made my stomach change shape entirely and then it would ripple back to its normal shape.

You don't 'see' any defined features but sometimes get the odd 'sharp' bit poking out for example. Always thought that was an elbow or knee or something but you can't tell. You make an estimate based on their position, type of movement and likely body part.

I'm 36 weeks, and see the baby pressing outwards every day. Sometimes a big bulge - sometimes something more pointy which I think is an elbow. Never seen anything defined like a foot though. However, all his weight is on one side of me, so he actually doesn't have much room and hasn't had for quite a while. Silly baby not making the most of the space!

serendipity16 · 16/04/2011 19:42

I was around 40 weeks i think when i felt something, either his elbow or knee. Was sitting on the bus, resting my arms on my bump when he moved & i have to say it was amazing. His movement moved my arm up & i felt the knee/elbow. He did it again when i was in bed & my husband had his hand resting on my bump.

I haven't got past 37wks with my other 5 pregnancies so haven't experienced it again.

It was amazing.

I noticed mine moving as soon as I started feeling movements at about 18 weeks. If I lay still on my back I would see the skin moving. By the end of my pregnancies could see limbs poking up and my whole stomach shifting from side to side. Never made out a clear foot but could feel the out line of it.

bishboschone · 16/04/2011 22:23

I see it varies quite alot then , thank you . My friend is only 25 weeks but says she sees it moving . She carried more weight on her tummy pre pregnancy so I would have thought I would see it too .
