OMG, I have JUST this minute done a test and it was positive. YAYYYYY!! Grin

I can't even get hold of my husband to tell him (working). I knew there was something going on - VERY tired this week and super emotional.

Anyway, I want to know how far I can exercise. I have been training for 2 10km runs this May. I run about 2-3 times a week, cycle and have at least one session with my personal trainer. Can I continue with this? What is recommended? Any ideas ladies?

Ithink the general advice is to continue what you are doing but stay within your comfort zone.

If you can comfortably run 10k now then fine, if not don't push yourself.

Congratulations!

Thank you.

I can't believe its the first thing I thought about!

yes

they say dont take up new sports or start something new, but to continue with what you do is fine, and of your body lets you know its tired, then listen and stop.

Im sure you can run the 10ks in May (just dont aim for or expect a PB Wink) BUT in a few weeks time you may be feeliing very poorly and not be up to anything at all. You may be lucky and feel fine. I hope you are a lucky one.

Oh and huge congratulations Smile

You could still do it, prepare for your boobs to kill though!!!
Congratulations!!

magicmelons · 16/04/2011 09:03

Yes but I have to wear a support bra and support top and my boobs still kill, I'm so shattered its hard to get the motivation to train but once I get going it's not too bad. I have thrown up a couple of times too but my Ms is bad. See how you feel. I'm 7 weeks and hope to keep running as long as I can, I find spinning more comfortable.

magicmelons · 16/04/2011 09:04

Congratulations btw!

I think it depends how you feel. You may nectaries sicky bad not feel like it or you may be fine. My pt said that as time went on he would make sure my temp didn't increase too much and my heartrate didn't go too high for too long. As it happens I have severe HG and am exhausted so stopped all training. Bummer.

lolajane2009 · 16/04/2011 10:12

as long as you aren't too tired i'd say it should be fine.

LadyGoneGaga · 16/04/2011 10:27

Just don't be competitive about it - use it as a training run. And a good sports bra! But you may find you're just too knackered so that's fine too. I stop running when pregnant as the first tri just wipes me out and after that am too big.

Sparklies · 16/04/2011 10:55

I did a 5K at 5 weeks and it was utterly exhausting - a total contrast to how it would have been just before I got pregnant. So don't expect any fantastic times unfortunately, but there's no reason not to take part unless you feel unwell.

Sparklies · 16/04/2011 10:55

Also - congratulations!!

GreenStart · 16/04/2011 11:07

I ran a 5K at 4 weeks, a HM at 5 weeks and a 10K at 8 weeks. I got a 5K PB (didn't know I was pregnant then), raced the HM and was a little slower than usual, the 10K I ran deliberately slowly and was really very tired afterwards. It depends what you are used to doing. I kept running (slowly) to 27 weeks, but I know people who ran to their due date (including on the day they gave birth).

Congratulations!

applecheeks21 · 16/04/2011 12:42

Thank you ALL for your advice and congratulations. I will continue to run but not push it if i don't feel like it. I will probably run the 10ks and just see how I get on (unless I feel horrendous of course!)

Thanks again ladies. Sound advice (I will be purchasing an even better sports bra too!)

:)

I think that's just amazing! Just the thought of a 10km run has me exhausted! And that's got more to do with my general lack of athletic ability and a lot less to do with the fact that I am pregnant! Well done you Smile
