FOund out last night that i'm pregnant with my second! i am only 4 weeks tomorrow, and we are really pleased although work has all gone wrong so the timing is not great but we'll manage. Anyway i've had quite bad AF cramps and heavy feeling in my uterus for the last few days. Don't remember this being so bad last time (dd is 14months) - is this normal in 2nd and subsequent pregnancies?
thanks

I had bad pain from about three weeks until about 8 weeks with my first but practically nothing with my second. Not helping, I know, other than that every pregnancy is different! Good luck.

only have one (so far!) but I had very bad cramps until 8 weeks with DD. so maybe it's normal in some pregnancies? maybe chat to your MW or GP?

Hi...I am 18 weeks pregnant with no 2, and noticed that at 4 weeks and 8 weeks, ie when period would have been due, I had quite bad cramps...made me wince! Only really had stretching pains with first...

yes 2nd pregnancies are known for being worse .. you can even feel your ligaments stretching and popping .. it feels very crampy for a good trimester IMO and can make you take a sharp intake of breath .. its because everythings been stretched once already

oh and you show much quicker too

Yes. I had cramping pains early on - not really bad and no bleeding, but I could certainly feel them enough to be a bit worried. At the time I think I decided (after googling) that it was to do with implantation. But I may have remembered it wrong. Anyway ds is now a healthy 18mo. Had no pains at all first time around with dd - I think it's just a case of all pregnancies being different rather than how many pregnancies iykwim

You have asked the exact question that I wanted to. I am 5+5 PG with my 2nd child -have a DD who is 2yrs 4 months-had a MC in May. This time from 4 weeks until a couple of days ago the cramping pains were so bad I was convinced I was losing the baby. However, the pains have stopped and the sickness has kicked in so I am beginning to think that perhaps you do have worse pains the 2nd time.

I am seeing the midwife this morning to book in and I am going to mention all the pains to see if I can have a early scan.

Perhaps you would like to join us on the due July 2006 thread-I know it is early but we are supporting each other on there.

((xx))
