I have to go out for dinner tonight with work and just realised we are going to a fish restaurant... can anyone remember what I can/cannot eat? First trimester so trying to be discrete!

Different countries have different guidance as well, remember.

Will you believe your HV if they give advice on making up bottles which goes against public health guidelines, as many do, leila?

HCPs are not gods, all they can do is advise on relative levels of risk and other professionals do likewise. Everyone then decides what is right for them but personally I'd be concerned if articles like that aren't conveying clear and accurate information. Guidelines might well be revised to reflect the relative probability of listeria contamination (which is different to risk) but they shouldn't be taken at face value.

I'd take Thumbwitch's advice over that of any HV, midwife or GP - and certainly over that of some article in a M&B magazine!

Leila - if one shouldn't take any advice from people on a website (which I admit is pretty sound advice) - why did you not post that instead of giving your incorrect opinion?

HP - hope you have a lovely night out tonight. I'm babysitting for some friends, 3 kids - one 8 year old that can talk for England! I envy you going out for dinner instead! Grin

HPSource- enjoy your dinner tonight. Sorry, didn't mean to take over your thread with banal bickering...

Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy- it's going to be a very exciting time! I am due in 2 wks and can't wait...Good-luck! Smile
