Silly question but can someone help me??

Hi all,

I am 10 +5 today with my second baby. I know I should know this but my brain in mush this morning and I can't seem to figure out if this mean that I conceived in late Jan. or early Feb. of this year.

Anyone out there who can shed some light on this for me?

Based on my counting back you have conceived around the 13th Feb.

Thanks PoppysMom! For some reason I have a hard time understanding it all. I was thinking that if I'm almost 11 weeks I would have had to conceive in Jan. but that can't be right. I'm usually not this thick headed (I hope!) :)

How does it all work exactly?

Pregnancy is calculated as weeks from last period. But ovulation (and conception) are approx 2 weeks after your last period. So when you are 11 weeks pg, that means you actually conceived 9 weeks ago.

Basically by the time you conceive you are classed as roughly 2 weeks pregnant already depending on the length of your normal cycle.
If you have a regular cycle which lasts 28 days, your LMP would have started on 31st Jan.

Basically, I counted 5 days back which brought me to last Sunday and then counted back 8 weeks, as by the time you conceive you are already 2 weeks pregnant :)

Ok, I have one more ridiculous question. If I'm 10 + 5 today I will be 11 weeks this coming Monday the 18th. So on Tuesday the 19th will I be 11 + 1 or 11 + 2?

11 full weeks and 1 day :)

Unless you're american. Thye seem to count as 11+2

LOL! I am American, but I live here in the UK :)

I was just wondering that because I thought that I could say each Monday I was 11 weeks, 12 weeks etc but it doesn't work out that way if I'm 11 + 1 on the 19th.

With my last pregnancy I never asked these questions and just counted my weeks as each Tuesday came along I knew I was a week further along but I seem to be making things harder for myself this time around!

You will be 11 weeks on Sunday if you are 10+5 today.

10+6 on Saturday

11 on Sunday

12 the following Sunday

13 the week after etc.

Ah, that is where I was going qrong HauntedLittleLunatic....I was counting Sunday as 10 + 7 instead of 11 weeks! Gah! Has the pregnancy brain set in this early already???? Or maybe it just has never gone away! ;)
