Hey, just wanted some advise? Bought a gorgeous pudding from Tescos called toffee flapjack pie, i ate it thinking how nice is was !!! i did see that it had a carmel mousse in it but didnt think anything of it ! My friend last night told me that mousse has raw egg in it?

Does anyone know if this is right or do you think because its from supermarket it will be ok. People think im bonkers worrying but its my first pregnancy and i just want to make sure its ok.

PS Im 14 weeks !

No it's fine. Most shop bought stuff is fine. It's only really mousse in a posh restaurant you'd avoid as that would be made from scratch with raw eggs.

I think as long as the egg is pasturised you're ok, because I know you can eat mayonnaise which as pasturised egg yolk in it.

You can see the ingredients here.

No egg :)

It should be ok. Most if not all commercial food production use pasterised egg for safety.

Thanks everyone! Tangle! I have seen the ingredients and there is no egg but then in product details it says allergy info ...... Egg and amp?

I don't know whether it does or not!!

it won't have uncooked egg in it. virtually nothing does in a supermarket as the shelf life would be about 10secs. you are pretty much going to be fine with ANYTHING sold in a supermarket inc stuff like unpasteurised cheese - they simply can't afford to poison people and you are no more susceptible to it than anyone else just because you are pregnant

I wouldnt worry about eating mousse or even moose, just make sure the moose isn't alive though...
