Am 40+2 and yesterday MW said this to me; had scan 2 weeks ago to confirm presentation and whilst they said big baby (MW terrifying me with thoughts of 4.5-5kg baby), there were plenty of fluids.

So, from ignorant perspective, what's happened to it?!?!

baby swallowed lots of it?? I remember when my son was born (8lb3oz, so fairly big for a newborn) he had a massively huge, swollen stomach at birth. I didnt really realise at the time, but when I now look back at the photo's of him a few hours after birth, he actually looked slightly deformed in the stomach area!! It all cleared through within 48hours, but he definetly had a stomach so big it looked like he'd just eaten 10 McDonalds, and the midwives told me it was all fluid swallowed in the womb....
