TMI: vomiting saliva in the middle of the night

Hi,
Just wanted to know if anyone else has had this; it seems pretty weird. I wake up suddenly in the middle of the night, coughing terribly and with a mouth full of saliva. I've managed to get myself to the bathroom a couple of times but last night essentially puked saliva over everything, and there was loads :(

It doesn't seem to matter how I lie - does anyone else have this, or know what might cause it?
Thanks

I haven't vomited saliva in the night but I have been producing a hell of a lot more drool since falling pregnant am 32+1 I have to turn my pillows over in the night as they are sopping. :-/ The only thing I had that was similar was when I got up yesterday morning. I've been sick recently cos of reflux ad thought the same was happening but in the end it was just some thickish saliva and no vomit. Sorry, not much help really.

Thanks! It is helpful to know someone else is drooling like mad as well!

My drooling in this pregnancy has been awful. I have woken myself up choking on it, but more often than not I wake up with a damp pillow Blush

There is a name for this condition (can't remember what it is though) and it often happens if you also suffered from morning sickness.

I suffer from this all the way through my pregnancies and it also comes down from my sinuses down the back of my throat! Have tried everything including very expensive treatments! I take a terry's towel to be with me and sleep with it catching the drool! It does ease off a little, it's all hormone based, you can tell when you get a surge of hormones with what happens in your mouth!! Or at least I can!! Keep a bowl or big jug by the side of the bed then you don't have to do all that cleaning after! X x

I have been vomiting saliva every morning and then often in the afternoon too. This is my 3rd baby but the only one I have experienced this with. Is very odd.

I had this too. I could even eat my dinner then go and be sick but only saliva come up and no food. Very wierd. Do you have indigestion/heartburn? I suffered terribley with this.

I'm another one with way too much saliva. It makes it hard to brush my teeth as it just makes me gag. My pillow is also soaked through every morning and I dont sleep close to hubby as I don't want to drool on him.

Thanks all, glad it's not just me. I looked it up and it does have a name I can't remember and, as ILikeToMoveItMoveIt says, often goes with HG - seriously glad I don't have that!
I thought I was just being weird and freaky. At least it's a pregnancy thing rather than a 'something seriously wrong with you' thing...
