normal or worth seeing GP?

Hi,
I'm 6 weeks pg with DC2. I've had a few stretching/cramping pains but felt that was normal.
However last night I had a really sharp stabbing pain down my right side. The only way I could ease it was by lying very still. I feel okay this morning, a bit queasy again etc.
Is this just a blip or worth getting checked? I'm so scared of finding out something terrible at the 12 weeks scan.

I'd say normal. But maybe ring mw if it continues.

Hi,

If you are worried go to your doctor for reassurance.

I woke up one night toppled over in pain, but there was no bleeding or anything and it lasted roughly 20 minutes.

It was just my uterus stretching a lot!

Good luck

I'm not seeing mw for another 3 weeks

If you are worried or scared, then it is always worth getting checked out even if it's just for the reasurrance.

happytree · 14/04/2011 10:02

Did you get checked Poppysmom?

What could they do at 6 weeks? Isn't it too early for a scan? Just desperate for reassurance.

No, I didn't. I live in Singapore though and I am privately insured.
As it settled and there was no blood I decided to wait and see how it went. This happened the night after an ectopic pregnancy was ruled out.

As it turns out at a later scan my uterus is very keen to grow and is on the large side for my gestational age...

Seriously though, with the NHS, if you are worried see if you can go to an Early pregnancy Unit?

Good luck!

My scan last week put me at 6w 1d.
We saw the bean and a strong heartbeat.
It's amazing that they can see so much this early :)

I had a pain a couple of weeks ago, which I went to see the doctor with, he transferred my to hospital thinking it was my appendix. After a long examination they said the pain was related to my section scar. However they had found an issue with my cervix which I had no symptoms of and had taken swabs, I got the results on monday and have bacterial vaginosis which is now being treated, so in my case I am glad I went with my paranoia and need for reasurrance.

Sounds very similar to what I had, I had my EMCS 6 months ago Blush. I stupidly thought I was going to rupture if I am honest that is why I went.

nunnie · 14/04/2011 10:17

After the sharp pain had eased for me, I had a really strange pulling sensation I thought I was destitching (not even sure that is a word), happened a few times in the space of a couple of hours. Only getting dull pains on my scar now though thankfully.

happytree · 14/04/2011 11:44

Have phone EAU who have said to get emergency appoinment with gp to be examined for eptopic. GP said phone at 1pm as that is when they release emergency appointments. Now I feel I'm causing unnecessary fuss as the pain hasn't come back this morning. Blush Confused.
DH away at the moment too, won't get back till 11pm. Sad

Don't be silly, if it is worrying you then it isn't unnecessary. Hopefully this will set your mind at rest.

happytree · 14/04/2011 13:04

Going to see GP at 4.20 this afternoon.

Have to do a wee sample. He thinks it might be water works. Says it's unlikely to be eptopic (gave no reason why). Feel a bit calmer now.
