Can you dye babyclothes?

I've been given tons and tons of lovely baby clothes by friends, we won't have to buy anything for the first year by the looks of it.

But - obviously a lot of it is either pastel blue or pastel pink, both colours I'm really not keen on. I have dyed clothes in the past with great success and was wondering if that is at all advisable for baby clothes?

Has anyone ever done this? Could the chemicals potentially cause reactions? You wash the clothes very thoroughly after dyeing, but you never know with babies...

Any advice?

Yes my friend dyed lots of her baby's clothes including some sheets for the cot which she wanted dark pink...

I dyed a cot sheet that my sister gave me once. It was pale pink and I dyed it navy blue. The colour didnt last long though, baby gear gets washed so often, it faded really fast and a year later was back to pale pink!

I have some dyed baby clothes and DS never had a problem with them.
