What is considered to be High Blood Pressure in pregnancy and how much protein in urine is too much?

Just been to midwife, I'm 37 weeks pregnant. So far my blood pressure and urine have all been normal. Today when looking back on my notes I've noticed my BP is 122/78 and they've written +protein for my urine sample. However they never said anything and it wasn't until I got home that I noticed. Should I be concerned or leave it as I feel perfectly ok and baby is moving?

I don't necessarily think my blood pressure is too high but this is todays recording.

I think that reading is absolutely fine (Although I can't comment on the protein.)

My hospital start treatment for high blood pressure at 140 over 90, but they also take your blood pressure reading from your booking in appointment into consideration.

If there was ANY doubt, the midwife would have said something. In my experience (treated and eventually induced for high BP in my first pregnancy and now being treated for high Blood Pressure in my second), they tend to take any abnormal readings very, very seriously.

Your BP doesn't seem high.....and there could be lots of reasons for the protein...if they aren't concerned I don't think you should worry. If anything changes or you start to feel bad you should contact them again for sure.

What constitutes high bp is different for everyone, that is why they take it so often so they can see a trend. My usual bp is around 95/65 so one of 122/78 would raise big alarm bells for me personally. However if that is your normal base level then no worries, it is a sudden rise they are interested in. Agree with the protein marker I have had protein traces and + all the way through but no comments have been made.

I'd be delighted if my BP was that low! Mine's always over 145/80 but being pregnant seems to have lowered it? yours sounds fine and they would have told you if it wasn't.

That BP is fine. It rises towards the end of pregnancy anyway so don't be thrown if you are comparing it to previous readings.

You have exactly the same blood pressure reading as I had at my last visit last week and they told me my blood pressure was fine, so don't worry. x

Thanks for your replies. I think because up until now everything has been exactly the same I just panicked a bit and I'm sure midwife would have said something. I'm seeing her again next week anyway. And the main thing is I feel really well in myself and baby is moving!

Wouldn't worry - mine's risen steadily from 120/80 - 144/92 and no-one's said anything about it - it's just written down on the chart in my notes.

today mine was 154/84 and I was told it's on the high side but no immediate cause for concern. I have had the odd protein trace as well but it never goes above a trace. If they were concerned they would have told you - I 'm just being told to take it as easy as possible (I'm 38 weeks & huge) so easy is about all I'm capable of! They will just keep an eye on it with your notes and are looking for a pattern of rising BP, with rising protein and will then go from there.
