How did you guess this in advance? I had no idea, and had one, and it was! Don't be surprised if you resort to the immac after this Grin

CrazyAlien06 · 12/04/2011 09:16

Oh dear ! I'd read up on it as was checking it was ok to have. I'm really nervous! Usually take nurofen before and it's bearable but no go this time! Waxing place I go to is in London and they are total experts so hoping they are super quick and keep me talking lol. They do have squishy toys which you can squeeze the hell out of so that may help lol.

The scary bit is, shouldn't our bodies be preparing us for childbirth by RAISING our pain thresholds?! I'm sure you'll be fine and I was just being a wuss.

thumbwitch · 12/04/2011 09:23

I'm sure it won't matter this early on, assuming you're early stage pg, but which bits are you having waxed? I'd worry that it might induce stretchmarks in certain areas as the collagen in the skin relaxes later in the pg...

CrazyAlien06 · 12/04/2011 09:28

I'm 15 weeks, it's bikini wax :-) I'm not bothered by stretchmarks, as long as I have a healthy baby that's all that matters to me :D think I may treat myself to something new after it lol.

Haha not enjoying reading this thread... I'm 29+1 and seriously considering getting a bikini wax before Baby makes an appearance, does it hurt more than normal?! Shock If so, I may reconsider...

thefurryone · 12/04/2011 09:43

I'm 38 weeks and going for a half leg and bikini later on today, I normally think it REALLY hurts and haven't really found it progressing beyond this level during pregnancy to be honest. I also don't have any stretchmarks (yet I'm aware there is still time).

Enjoy Smile

I've had waxes throughout my pg (now 38 weeks). One tip is to see if you can have hot wax vs. strip wax. I find that it's about a third less painful...whcih combined with waxing being about a third more painful during pg (!) evens things out. You can also ask them to apply pressure as soon as they rip it off IYSWIM.

Treated myslef to a decent wax at a posh spa yesterday. Women thought I was bonkers when I asked her to make sure my tiswas (bit btwn front & back bottom) was completely clear in case of tearing/episeotomy Shock. Sorry if TMI...but last wax before birth so want to make sure that I'm good to go!

theonlyhb2 · 12/04/2011 12:17

i am still going to my Hollywood waxes, and am making sure I book in a few days before my due date! I am already worrying when I will be able to go for one after the birth............

iskra · 12/04/2011 12:22

It does hurt more than normal IME.

dizzy77 · 12/04/2011 13:22

I've been getting by BL hot waxed throughout with gritted teeth: therapist very sensitive and concerned about tenderness but my attitude has been that I've got childbirth to look forward to which presumably will hurt a heck of a lot more...

caramellokoalalover · 12/04/2011 15:23

I had a full leg & hollywood yesterday at 39+3 and would say it didn't hurt more than usual...and it had been a long time between visits so I was really nervous about it. Make sure you go somewhere reputable as the person doing it and the wax they use makes all the difference!

CrazyAlien06 · 12/04/2011 18:05

hey everyone I survived full hollywood
Was a little painful but then there was a bit more work that needed doing IYSWIM!
Yeah I go to Ministry of Waxing in Mayfair - they are the best!!

Glad you survived! You are very brave to have the Hollywood anyway, so I guess I'm just more of a wimp than you. Though there was bruising last time Shock Nice of me not to tell you that earlier wasn't it?!

CrazyAlien06 · 12/04/2011 19:37

haha yeah , I usually have it so am used to it :D Have a lovely lady who does it which really helps I think! had some bad experiences in the past so thats why I travel to London to have it done now lol x
