I would so appreciate advice!

I'm in my twentieth week of pregnancy. Last scan was two weeks ago and all was well.

Today I woke up to a small amount of clear/whitish discharge and have been having pain (like a stitch) in my abdomen on the left side.

My husband and I have been trying for two years and we desperately want this pregnancy to succeed. Does anyone think there's cause for concern here?

I'm having a similar thing at 16wks and 3 days. Was in A&E this morning and have an emergency scan booked for tomorrow to reassure me.

Don't worry about the discharge - as long as it's not smelly or have blood in it, IME you tend to get extra discharge in pregnancy. (this is my second pg but I'm having twins this time).

It's probably nothing but call your mw in the morning as stress isn't good for baby. Might be baby changing position or tummy stretching etc, but always best to get reassurance.

Despite me being worried I've just order a steriliser online, so I must be feeling slightly confident. Didn't have one with dd (only a mini one that came with bpump as I breast feed until 8 months), think I need the back-up with twins.

Good luck, but I'm sure you're fine. x

Thanks PrincessScrumpy, really appreciate your response! Congratulations on your twins - I'm glad you're feeling ok and very best of luck with the scan tomorrow morning.

I had no idea pregnancy was so stressful! I'm sure we'll come through in the end though! x

I've had white/clear discharge from the start and continue to have it (16 weeks)... I don't really understand why others get concerned about it because it's just part of being a woman.

I'm with Princess on there not being anything to worry about, but do seek reassurance from your midwife x

I think you're alright, and it sounds exactly like what I've been having, but ring your mw tomorrow to put your mind at rest.
Sorry if TMI, but deffo way more discharge here, and ligament pain and trapped wind have felt like stitches with me.
We've been trying for nearly 4 years (am 21+4 now), so I know how you analyse every little twinge and pain... good luck :)

Try not to worry (easier said than done, I know). I'm 18+6 and get stitch like pains quite a bit, which I think are mostly stretching pains (bump's done a fair bit of growing recently!) and things like round ligament pain.
Oh, and maybe TMI, but I get a LOT of discharge :) I wear a pantliner everyday and to be honest it was the same before I was pregnant. I have an ectropion cervix which apparently can cause more discharge than usual - and in pregnancy it's normal to have more than you're used to.
Like the pp said, if you have serious pain (lasting more than a few minutes or coming in waves) or any bleeding/spotting, get it checked out; otherwise, we should try to enjoy this bit apparently before we get too big to move!

Just to let you know that during my pregnancy I had a lot of strange 'pains' during my second trimester... especially odd pains (think they were ligament stretches) when getting in and out of the car.

Now have a 13 month old DS.

I was a paranoid wreck for my entire pregnancy though, so would just state that never be worried about asking your MW's advice.

I am 20 weeks and have been experiencing these cramp like sensations since about 15 weeks. I spoke to my doc about them and he said it was very normal, as everything was stretching (for the first time). I too have had an increased amount of discharge (Blush, I hate that word!) since I fell pregnant. There has been no blood though, so I try not to worry about it now. FWIW, I had a scan just last week and LO is healthy as a horse apparently.

Thank you all for your reassurance! Think I was panicking unnecessarily. Best of luck to us all!

I had the same at around 20-23 weeks pregnant and was really worried. I was more concerned because it was in one particular area and also on the left sign. It did go and then come back again but turned out to be nothing. As for discharge I've been wearing pantyliners every day since about 8 weeks. I ran out a couple of weeks ago and thought I'd be ok but I was WRONG and quickly went to Tesco! Grin
